It is sensitive to detergent cracking or hyperosmotic. No movement. Extremely strict anaerobic. The optimal NaCl concentration is 0.1~0.8 mol/L, moderate temperature (the optimal temperature is 35~40 ℃), thermophilic (the optimal temperature is 65 ℃), or extreme thermophilic (the optimal temperature is 85~91 ℃). H2+CO2 and usually formate are the substrates produced by CH4; Acetic acid and methylamine are not used. Ammonia, sometimes N2 or alanine can be used as nitrogen source, and sulfide or elemental sulfur can be used as sulfur source. It may live in salt marsh, sea water and bay environment. The G+Cmol% of DNA is 29-34. Mode: Methanococcus vannamei (Methanococcus vannielii)。
