Guaymas, the port city of Sonora State in the northwest of Mexico, the main export port of agricultural and livestock products in Sonora State, the outer port and industrial and commercial center of Emoxiyo. It has a total population of 54000 (1980).
It mainly exports agricultural products, livestock, fish and mineral products. The bay is rich in perch, plaice, prawns, etc. There is a fish processing industry. The city is surrounded by mountains on three sides. The climate is dry and hot in summer and mild and pleasant in winter. It is a winter resort.
