In 1956, Qili Station Neighborhood Committee was set up in the district.At the same time, the five neighborhood committees of Gewu, Bashang, Chongde, Shangwu and Hebei were renamed as the neighborhood committees of Bengyi, Beng'er, Chuzhou Road, Chaohu Road and Yuhuaqiao respectively.
In July 1965, according to the directive of Anhui Provincial People's Committee on the establishment of neighborhood offices and the addition of neighborhood committees, the district added four neighborhood committees, Shengli Road, Sanli Street, Huachong and Heping Road, and the number of neighborhood committees increased from the first 23 to 42.In addition, three factory family committees were set up, including Hefei Meat Joint Factory, Hefei Paper Mill and Hefei Building Materials Experimental Factory.
In 1966, after the start of the "Cultural Revolution" movement, the area was under military control on May 14, 1967, and a military control group in the eastern urban area of Hefei City of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was established to take over the leadership of the whole area.

In January 1980, the name and establishment of the people's government were restored.The streets and neighborhood committees under its jurisdiction were all restored to their original names in March of that year.
In 1989, the district added 10 neighborhood committees and 71 family committees, and established the first military family service center in Anhui Province.

Iron calligraphy
