The history of the school can be traced back to the establishment of Zhejiang Vocational and Technical School for the Disabled in 1993. At the initial stage of its establishment, the school mainly carried out adult education and vocational training for the disabled.In May 1998, the school began full-time secondary vocational education.Since 2000, the university has cooperated with Zhejiang Radio and Television University, Zhejiang Education College, Zhejiang Art Vocational College and other universities to carry out higher education for the disabled.In December 2001, Zhejiang Vocational and Technical School for the Disabled was renamed Zhejiang Huaqiang Secondary Vocational School.In April 2014, afterPeople's Government of Zhejiang ProvinceZhejiang Vocational College of Special Education was established upon approval and filing by the Ministry of Education[2]。
As of April 2024, the school has two campuses, Xiaoheshan and Tiancheng Road, with a total area of 177 mu and a total construction area of nearly 90000 square meters;There are 4 teaching institutions and 13 higher vocational majors;286 teaching staff and more than 3000 full-time students[1]。[18]
In 1993, Zhejiang Vocational and Technical School for the Disabled was founded to carry out adult education and vocational training for the disabled.
In May 1998, the school began full-time secondary vocational education, filling the gap of special education and general secondary vocational education in Zhejiang Province.
Since 2000, the university has cooperated with Zhejiang Radio and Television University, Zhejiang Education College, Zhejiang Art Vocational College and other universities to carry out higher education for the disabled, which is an example of higher education implemented by schools of the National Disabled Persons' Federation system.
In December 2001, Zhejiang Vocational and Technical School for the Disabled was renamed Zhejiang Huaqiang Secondary Vocational School.
On August 6, 2008, the construction of Xiaoheshan Campus was started.
In 2009, the school was rated as "National Advanced Unit of Special Education" by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the China Disabled Persons' Federation.
In May 2010, the first phase construction project of Xiaoheshan Campus was completed and the school moved to the new campus.
In April 2011, with the approval of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, Zhejiang Vocational College for Special Education was started.
In April 2014, Zhejiang Vocational College for Special Education was officially established with the approval of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province and the record of the Ministry of Education.In the same month, the construction of Xiaoheshan Campus Phase II Project started[1]。
