Jinan West Railway Station, also known as Jinan West Railway Station, is located in Jinan, Shandong Province, ChinaHuaiyin DistrictNo. 6 Qilu Avenue, the first-class passenger station under the jurisdiction of China Railway Jinan Bureau Group Co., Ltd., is the passenger station of Beijing Shanghai High speed Railway, Shijiazhuang Jinan High speed Railway and Jiaozhou Jinan Passenger Dedicated Line, and is one of the five departure stations of Beijing Shanghai High speed Railway[1][31]。
The foundation of Jinan West Railway Station was laid on July 12, 2009.[2]On June 30, 2011, along withBeijing Shanghai High speed RailwayCompleted and put into use.[3]
As of January 2020, the total construction area of Jinan West Station is 100000 square meters, and the scale of the station is 8 sets and 17 lines (1 set and 1 line are reserved in the future);The design capacity of the station is 40000 people, including 30000 people in the east square and 10000 people in the west square.[4]

In December 2005, Jinan issued the "Overall Urban Planning of Jinan 2005-2020", which proposed to plan a new Jinan Station to be built on the west side of Beijing Shanghai high-speed railway in combination with the construction of Beijing Shanghai passenger dedicated line.
On July 12, 2009, the construction of Jinan West Railway Station was officially started.[5]
On July 21, 2010, the two sides of the main project of Jinan West Railway Station were capped.
On May 22, 2011, the main works of Jinan West Railway Station were completed and accepted.On June 30, Jinan West Railway Station was officially opened with the opening of Beijing Shanghai high-speed railway.[6]
On July 1, 2012, Jinan West Railway Station opened its first direct train to Qingdao.[7]
On July 1, 2013, the Beijing Shanghai High speed Railway and the Beijing Guangzhou High speed Railway were interconnected, and Jinan West Station opened direct high-speed trains to Wuhan, Changsha and other places.[6]On December 28, Jinan West Railway Station opened high-speed trains to Harbin, Dalian, Changchun, Shenyang, Guangzhou and other cities for the first time.[7]
On July 1, 2014, Jinan West Railway Station opened its first high-speed train to Xiamen.[6]
On May 3, 2017,Jinan Municipal People's GovernmentThe official website announced that the Zhengzhou Jinan High speed Railway will go to Changqing to connect with Jinan West Railway Station.[1]
On December 8, 2023, Jinan Puyang Section of Jinan Zhengzhou High speed Railway will be completed and opened to traffic.[32]

As of April 2016, the total construction area of Jinan West Station is 100000 square meters[8]The area of the main station is 62534 square meters.The design of Jinan West Railway Station reflects the regional and cultural characteristics of Shandong Province. The whole station building has the style of traditional wooden structure buildings. The ceiling of the station building is wavy curved surface, drawing on the characteristics of shop windows in Chinese ancient buildings. The interior decoration of the station building adopts different styles according to the functional areas.[9]In addition, the station adopts the design of large-span canopy without platform columns, so as to broaden the view of passengers.Automatic snow melting system and siphon drainage system are also designed on the roof of the station.
The square in front of Jinan West Railway Station is divided into East West Square.Among them, the west square is 470 meters long from north to south, 110 meters wide from east to west, with a total area of 52000 square meters;East Square, also known as "Ritual and Music Square", was put into use in 2013;The ground construction area of East Square is about 79000 square meters, and the underground construction area is about 90000 square meters.The area of the East Square is equivalent to three West Square, and 30000 people can be evacuated at most.[4]The landscape of the East Square is designed with the theme of "ceremony" and "joy". The landscape design of the square reflects the cultural connotation of Shandong.The six bronze carriage statues on the square reflect Qilu culture and welcome visitors from all over the world.There are three "wine bottles" on both sides of the central axis to show the hospitality of Jinan people.In combination with the characteristics of Jinan's "Spring City", the east square is also equipped with a lotus fountain. The self-service ticket vending machines at Jinan West Railway Station are located on the first floor and the second floor respectively, which is convenient for passengers from different directions to purchase tickets separately.On both sides of the entrance of the hall on the first floor are ticket halls 1 and 2.
