Hechi City is a place of Baiyue before the Qin Dynasty. In the 33rd year of Qin Shihuang (214 BC), Qin unified the Lingnan region, and Hechi City was under the jurisdiction of Guilin Prefecture. In the Han Dynasty, most of Hechi City belonged to Yulin County, and now Tiane, Nandan and Huanjiang counties belong to Zangke County.
In the sixth year of the Han Yuan Ding era (111 BC), Dingzhou County was established within the jurisdiction of Yulin County, including some areas of counties (districts) such as Yizhou, Jinchengjiang, Donglan, Fengshan, Du'an, Dahua, etc.
During the Three Kingdoms Period, Hechi City belonged to the Yulin Prefecture of the State of Wu. In the Sui Dynasty, part of Hechi City belonged to Yulin Prefecture and part to Shi'an Prefecture.
In the Tang Dynasty, there were two prefectures, Yizhou and Huanzhou, in the east of Hechi City, under which there were several counties. Most of the counties (districts) of Jinchengjiang, Yizhou, Luocheng, Nandan, Huanjiang, Tiane, Fengshan and Donglan were under the jurisdiction of these two prefectures; Now Bama is under the jurisdiction of Tianzhou, and now Du'an and Dahua are under the jurisdiction of Sien Prefecture.
