Hebei University of Engineering (HUE), located in Hebei Province Handan City , a full-time ordinary college under the charge of the Education Department of Hebei Province. Hebei Provincial People's Government and Ministry of Water Resources Co construction, Hebei Province National first-class university Build a two-level university^[4] Emergency Management College is one of the first batch of pilot schools^[3] 、 CDIO Engineering Education Alliance Member companies.^[1-2]

The predecessor of the college is Hebei Engineering College, which was formed on April 16, 2003 by the merger of the former Hebei Institute of Architecture and Technology (including Handan Branch of North China University of Water Resources and Hydropower incorporated on April 5, 2002), Handan Medical College (founded in 1951), Handan Agricultural College (founded in 1975), and was renamed as Hebei Engineering University on February 14, 2006,^[8] In 2014, we began to enroll doctoral students.^[20] In 2017, Hebei Province was identified as the construction unit for awarding doctoral degrees.^[98] In June 2020, Hebei Engineering University was rated as "Hebei Entrepreneurship University". In 2021, the national mass innovation space will be registered, and in 2022, it will be approved as a provincial innovation and entrepreneurship college.^[1]

As of September 2023, there are five campuses: the headquarters, the South China Campus, Congtai Campus, Mingguan Campus and the new campus.^[88] The new campus covers a total area of 4098 mu, with a building area of 763200 square meters. The school has 2420 teaching staff, 3573 doctoral and master's students, 24048 full-time general undergraduate students and 96 international students. There are 19 teaching units and 1 independent college,^[80] There are 72 undergraduate enrollment majors.^[1] The university has the only doctoral talent training project serving the special needs of the country - water resources and water environment regulation and comprehensive management in Hebei Province, the only post doctoral research station in water conservancy engineering in Hebei Province, 17 first level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, and 13 categories authorized for master's professional degrees. Water conservancy engineering discipline is the priority supporting discipline for the first-class discipline construction project in Hebei Province, and geological resources, geological engineering and mechanical engineering are the key cultivation disciplines for the first-class discipline construction project in Hebei Province.^[1]

Hebei Institute of Architecture and Technology

In 1952, Kailuan Coal Mine Industrial School It was founded and later renamed as Kailuan Coal Construction Engineering School, Tangshan Coal Mine School, Hebei Fengfeng Coal Mine School and Hebei Coal Mine College. In 1981, Hebei Coal Mine College was renamed as Hebei Mining College, and Hebei Mining and Metallurgy College (coal mining specialty) was merged into Hebei Mining College. In 1983, Hebei Institute of Mining and Technology was renamed as Hebei Coal Construction Engineering College.^[5] In 1995, Hebei Coal Construction Engineering College was renamed as Hebei Institute of Architecture and Technology 。^[2]

North China University of Water Resources and Hydropower (Handan)

In 1951, Beijing Water Conservancy and Hydropower School Beijing Water Conservancy and Power Generation School and Beijing Correspondence College of Water Conservancy and Power Generation were established successively. In 1958, Beijing Correspondence College of Water Conservancy and Power Generation, Beijing School of Water Conservancy and Power Generation and Beijing School of Water Conservancy and Hydropower were merged and upgraded to Beijing Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower 。 In 1971, Beijing Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower was renamed Hebei Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower and North China University of Water Resources and Hydropower 。 In 1990, North China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower moved to Zhengzhou, Henan Province, and its headquarters was renamed North China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower (Handan), which was later incorporated in 2002 Hebei Institute of Architecture and Technology 。^[2]

Handan Agricultural College

In 1975, Hebei Agricultural University Handan Branch was founded. In 1993, Handan Branch of Hebei Agricultural University was built separately Handan Agricultural College 。^[2]

Handan Medical College

In 1951, Handan Health School and Shijiazhuang Branch of Hebei Health School were established successively. In 1953, Shijiazhuang Branch of Hebei Health School was transformed into Hebei Shijiazhuang Medical School. In 1958, Hebei Shijiazhuang Medical School and Handan Health School were merged and upgraded to Handan Medical College. In 1962, Handan Medical College was rebuilt into Handan Health School. In 1975, the Handan Health School was reconstructed into the Handan Branch of Hebei New Medical University. In 1979, the Handan Branch of Hebei New Medical University was renamed Handan Branch of Hebei Medical College. In 1993, Hebei Medical College Handan Branch was built separately Handan Medical College 。^[9]

In 2003, Hebei Institute of Architecture and Technology, Handan Agricultural College, Handan Medical College North China University of Water Resources and Hydropower (Handan) merged to form Hebei Institute of Engineering.^[8]

Hebei Engineering University

In 2006, Hebei Institute of Engineering was officially renamed as Hebei University of Engineering.^[6-7] In 2010, the Ministry of Water Resources and Hebei Province signed a memorandum in Beijing to jointly build Hebei Engineering University.^[10] In 2011, Hebei Engineering University was added to the list of key backbone universities in Hebei Province.^[11] On July 9, 2019, Hebei Engineering University moved to a new campus.^[76] In June 2020, the university was rated as Hebei Venture University.^[12] On July 13, 2022, the website of the Education Department of Hebei Province announced that it is planned to build a provincial innovation and entrepreneurship college in Hebei University of Technology.^[48] In June 2023, the School of Sports and Health Engineering of Hebei Engineering University and the Track and Field Sports Center of Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement, and the two sides will establish a throwing project research center and training base in Hebei Engineering University.^[73]
