Shenyang University of Chemical Technology was founded in 1952 and upgraded to undergraduate degree in 1958. It was named Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology and renamed Liaoning University of Science and Technology in 1960, under the Chinese Academy of Sciences[45]In 1962, it was renamed Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology, which was subordinate to the Ministry of Chemical Industry. In 1998, the school running system was jointly built by the central and local governments, with Liaoning as the main management[49]In 2010, it was renamed Shenyang University of Chemical Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Education.[1]
As of November 2023, the school covers an area of about 1425 mu, with a construction area of 550000 square meters. Shenyang University of Chemical Technology was founded on July 15, 1952. When it was founded, it was called "Shenyang Chemical Industry Technology School", and was subordinate to the Ministry of Industry of the Northeast People's Government. In October 1953, the school was subordinate to the Ministry of Heavy Industry of the Central People's Government and renamed as "Shenyang Chemical Industry School of the Ministry of Heavy Industry".The school's education of foreign students started in 1953, and 14 students were enrolled from 1953 to 1954North KoreaInternational students come to the university to study.
From 1953 to 1958, the Chemical Department of Shenyang Mechanical Industry School, the Dyestuff and Analysis Department of Jilin Industrial School, the Electrical Department of Dalian Industrial School, and Shenyang Chemical School were incorporated into the school.
In 1956, the State established the Ministry of Chemical Industry, and the school was transferred from the Ministry of Heavy Industry to the Ministry of Chemical Industry.
Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology
On August 10, 1958, the school was upgraded to undergraduate and formally established "Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology", which was subordinate to the People's Government of Liaoning Province and was then the president of the Chinese Academy of SciencesGuo MoruoInscribed the name of the school.
In June 1960, with the approval of the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee, the college was renamed as "Liaoning University of Science and Technology". The organic synthesis specialty of Fushun Institute of Technology was incorporated into the college, and the business leaders of the college were subordinate to Liaoning Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In August 1961, the Liaoning Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was revoked, and the school's business was under the leadership of the Science and Technology Commission of Liaoning Province.
In April 1962, the university was re attached to the Ministry of Chemical Industry, its name was changed back to Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology, and Dalian Polytechnic College was incorporated into the university.
Shenyang University of Chemical Technology
From December 1970 to June 1978, during the "Cultural Revolution", the school was forced to move to Fushun City to run a school. The original Fushun Institute of Technology and Fushun Petroleum School were merged into the school, and the school was renamed "Fushun Institute of Chemical Technology".
In July 1978, the school moved back to Shenyang to restore its original name "Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology", and the school was again under the Ministry of Chemical Industry.
In 1982, the university became one of the first units authorized to confer bachelor's degrees.
In 1986, he began to cooperate with other universities to cultivate master's degree students.
In 1992, it began to cooperate with some universities at home and abroad to cultivate doctoral students.

In 2016, it was selected into the second phase list of the national "Central and Western Universities Basic Capacity Building Project".
In January 2017, Shenyang University of Chemical Technology was selected as one of the "key universities of high-level universities in China" among the key universities of first-class universities in Liaoning Province.In July, it was identified as "the second batch of nationalDeepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education”。[7]
In March 2018, it was selected into the first batch of national new engineering research and practice projects of the Ministry of Education.[8]On June 7, Shenyang University of Chemical Technology joined the "Belt and Road" university alliance.[54]
In March 2020, it was selected into the "Emergency Safety Smart Learning Workshop (2020)" and the first batch of pilot schools for the construction of the School of Emergency Management.[9]In October, it was successfully selected as the pilot unit of "giving scientific researchers the ownership or long-term use right of scientific and technological achievements".[39]
