Mercuric cyanide

inorganic compound
Mercury cyanide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Hg (CN) two , a white crystalline powder, easily soluble in water, ammonia, methanol, ethanol, insoluble in benzene, mainly used in medicine, sterilization soap, photography, but also as an analytical reagent.
On October 27, 2017, the list of carcinogens published by the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization (WHO) was preliminarily collated for reference. Mercury and inorganic mercury compounds were included in the list of three types of carcinogens. [2]

Acute toxicity: LD fifty : 25mg/kg (rat by mouth). [1]

purpose

Announce
edit
It is mainly used in medicine, sterilization soap, photography, and also as an analytical reagent.

First aid measures

Announce
edit
Skin contact: Take off contaminated clothes immediately, and wash thoroughly with flowing clean water or 5% sodium thiosulfate solution for at least 20 minutes. Get medical attention.
Eye contact: immediately lift the eyelid, and thoroughly flush it with a large amount of flowing water or physiological saline for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention.
Inhalation: quickly leave the site to a place with fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. When breathing and heartbeat stop, perform artificial respiration (not mouth to mouth) and external chest compression immediately. Inhale isoamyl nitrite and seek medical advice.
Ingestion: drink enough warm water to induce vomiting. Use 1:5000 potassium permanganate or 5% sodium thiosulfate solution for gastric lavage. Get medical attention.

Fire fighting measures

Announce
edit
Hazard characteristics: non combustible. It will produce highly toxic cyanide gas when exposed to high heat or acid. Reacts violently with nitrate, nitrite and chlorate, which may cause explosion. When exposed to acid or air, it can absorb water and carbon dioxide and decompose into highly toxic hydrogen cyanide gas.
Hazardous combustion products: hydrogen cyanide, nitrogen oxide.
Fire extinguishing method: This product is nonflammable. In case of fire, try to rescue the goods to prevent package damage and environmental pollution. Firefighters must wear gas masks and full body fire-fighting clothes to extinguish the fire in the upwind direction.
Extinguishing agent: dry powder, sand. It is forbidden to use carbon dioxide and acid-base fire extinguishing agent to extinguish the fire.

Leakage emergency treatment

Announce
edit
Isolate the leakage contaminated area and restrict access. It is recommended that emergency personnel wear dust masks (full face masks) and gas suits. Do not touch the leakage directly.
Small amount of leakage: avoid raising dust and collect it in a dry, clean and covered container with a clean shovel.
Large amount of leakage: covered with plastic cloth and canvas. Then collect and recycle or transport to waste disposal site for disposal.

Protective measures

Announce
edit
Respiratory system protection: When possible exposure to poisons, you must wear a hood type electric air supply filter type dust respirator. In case of emergency rescue or evacuation, it is recommended to wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
Eye protection: protection has been made in respiratory system protection.
Body protection: wear one-piece adhesive tape anti-virus clothing.
Hand protection: wear rubber gloves.
Other protection: smoking, eating and drinking are prohibited at the work site. Clean thoroughly after work. Store the clothes contaminated by poisons separately and use them after washing. The workshop shall be equipped with first-aid equipment and medicines. Operators shall learn to save themselves and each other.

Operation, disposal, storage and transportation

Announce
edit
Precautions for operation: it shall be strictly sealed, and sufficient local exhaust and general ventilation shall be provided. The operation shall be mechanized and automated as far as possible. Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating procedures. It is recommended that the operator wear a hood type electric air supply filter type dust respirator, a one-piece adhesive tape gas suit and rubber gloves. Avoid dust generation. Avoid contact with oxidants and acids. Load and unload gently during transportation to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Provide leakage emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may leave harmful substances.
Precautions for storage: store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from kindling and heat sources. Avoid light. Packing and sealing. It shall be stored separately from oxidants, acids and edible chemicals, and mixed storage is strictly prohibited. The storage area shall be equipped with appropriate materials to contain leakage. The "five pairs" management system for extremely toxic substances shall be strictly implemented.
Packaging method: put it into a plastic bag with the mouth sealed, and then put it into a solid steel barrel with a thickness of no less than 0.75 mm. The barrel lid is tightly clamped, and the net weight of each barrel is 50 kg; Screw mouth glass bottles, iron cap pressure mouth glass bottles, plastic bottles or ordinary wooden boxes outside metal barrels (cans); However, plastic bags must be added outside the glass bottles.
Precautions for transportation: Mercury cyanide is a highly toxic chemical, which shall be loaded in strict accordance with the dangerous goods loading table in the Transport Rules for Dangerous Goods issued by the Ministry of Railways. Before transportation, check whether the packaging container is complete and sealed. During transportation, ensure that the container does not leak, collapse, fall or damage. It is strictly prohibited to mix with acids, oxidants, food and food additives. The transport vehicle shall be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment during transportation. During transportation, it shall be protected from sun exposure, rain and high temperature. Road transportation shall be carried out according to the specified route, and it is forbidden to stay in residential areas and densely populated areas.
