In 1950, Li Tianmu Hui Township was located in the seventh district of Cangxian County (in Fengweidian).
In January 1958, it was removed from the district and merged into the township, which was called Li Tianmu Township. In the autumn of the same year, four townships, namely Fengweidian, Li Tianmu and Wanghai Temple, merged to form Cangxian Dongfeng Third People's Commune (located in Li Tianmu), which was the management area of Li Tianmu.
In 1961, Li Tianmu Commune was founded.
In 1984, it was changed to Li Tianmu Hui Township [1]
