Ebenezer Prout (1835~1909)
It mainly depends on self-study. He once taught in the National Music Training School Royal College of Music London City Hall Music School. In 1894 Trinity College Dublin He was appointed as a part-time professor and received an honorary doctor of music degree the following year. Prout was also the first editor of Music Report Monthly, and he was a music critic of Academy and Athens Temple.
Prout is famous for his complete set of music theory works. His works include Theory and Practice of Harmony Acoustics, Double counterpoint Method and Canon, Musical Stylistics, Applied Musical Stylistics, Orchestral Method Course, Musical Instrument Method (all of which have Chinese translations), and Antithetic Method, Strict and Free《 Fugue 》Such books are used as teaching materials in many music schools around the world.
