For a long time, the construction and development of Xinjiang University has been fully supported by domestic sister universities.
In 2001, the Ministry of Education launched the "counterpart support plan for colleges and universities in the western region", and determined that Xi'an Jiaotong University should provide counterpart support to Xinjiang University.

The Jiefang Building in Honghu Campus, completed in 1953, is the first comprehensive teaching building of Xinjiang University after the founding of New China, with a strong Soviet style architectural style.After transformation and repair in 2014, it officially became the History Museum of Xinjiang University, where many precious historical materials were effectively kept and displayed[72]。

Chongneng Building in Youhao Campus was built in 1954, facing west and east.The building is 110 meters long from north to south and 70 meters wide from east to west. It is a three storey brick and wood structure building with a rectangular plane.The left and right sides are symmetrical. Four tascon type pilasters are set on the front. The roof is made of iron sheet, with dormers.The four pilasters bear the words "Xinjiang University" in Uighur and Chinese[72]。In May 2023, it was selected as the seventh batch of China's 20th century architectural heritage[73]。
