The Journey to the West with the Large Characters of the Newly Carved Statue Board is called Shidetang or Shiben for short, with 20 volumes and 100 chapters. The oldest existing《 Journey to the West 》Version, today's two versions are People's Literature Press Both (1980) and Writer's Publishing House (1954) editions are based on this book.

The introduction is as follows: the cover and title page are not found. The title at the top of the table of contents is "Journey to the West with New Characters Carved on the Image Board", and the title at the end is "Journey to the West with Image Carved". Each volume of the text has multiple titles, "Journey to the West with New Carved Characters on the Official Board"; Among them, there are twelve to sixteen, eighteen and twenty titles, "Journey to the West with New Large Characters Carved on Official Boards"; At the end of each volume of the text: Volume I and Volume VII are entitled "Journey to the West with Large Characters Carved on Official Boards", Volume II, IV, V, VIII, XII, XIII and XIX are entitled "Journey to the West with Large Characters Carved on Official Boards", Volume VI is entitled "Journey to the West with Large Characters Carved on Official Boards", Volume XIV is entitled "Journey to the West", and other volumes are missing. There are 12 lines and 24 words on the half page of the text. There are 1029 pages (excluding pictures) in the body of the book, and the actual number of words is about 600000.
