In September 2021, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development released the Notice on Strengthening the Planning and Construction Management of Super High rise Buildings (Draft for Comments) on its official website to solicit public opinions.According to the Draft, cities with a permanent resident population of less than 3 million in urban areas are strictly limited to new high-rise buildings of more than 150 meters, and no new high-rise buildings of more than 250 meters are allowed.Cities with a permanent resident population of more than 3 million in urban areas strictly restrict the construction of super high-rise buildings of more than 250 meters, and no new super high-rise buildings of more than 500 meters are allowed.[7]
