Characteristics

  • Agronomic characteristics: The leaves are green, with purple veins, vein bases and petiole bases. The leaves are triangular. The stem is medium long, thick, green with purple, and has many branches, belonging to the creeping type. The seed potato has good germination, early emergence, and good growth. The vine leaves grow fast in the early stage, grow steadily in the middle stage, and do not fade early in the later stage. The tuber formation is early and concentrated, the tuber block expands rapidly in the middle stage, the tuber rate is high, the tuber block is large, and the tuber block is spindle or cylindrical. Red skin and white meat. [1 ]
  • Quality: High and stable yield, wide adaptability, good comprehensiveness, and storage resistance. The drying rate of spring potatoes is more than 30%, and that of summer potatoes is about 26%. The starch rate was 62.1%, crude protein 5.2%, reducing sugar 6.6%, soluble sugar 6%. It has good taste and tastes sweet. [1 ]
  • Disease resistance: High resistance Root rot of sweet potato , not resistant Black spot of sweet potato , moderate resistance Sweet potato stem nematode disease , resistant to sweet potato stem rot, drought resistance, barren resistance, moisture resistance and strong stress resistance. [1 ]

Yield performance

edit
In areas not infected with sweet potato root rot disease, the yield of "Xushu 18" is higher than that of "Shengli 100" every year, and its range varies with climate and soil changes. From 1975 to 1979, the field test of summer potatoes conducted by Xuzhou Agricultural Science Research Institute in Xuhuai, Jiangsu Province showed that "Xushu 18" increased the yield of fresh potatoes by 5.6-52.2% and dry potatoes by 14.9-83.7% compared with "Shengli 100". In 1975-1976, the results of 27 off-site evaluations showed that the average yield of fresh potato was 36.6% higher than that of "Shengli 100", and the average yield of dry potato was 54.8%. From then on to 1978, 120 times of test results were summarized, and the yield of "Xushu 18" was 39.7% higher than that of "Shengli 100" fresh potato, and 55.3% higher than that of dry potato. [3 ]
The productivity identification of sweet potato root rot disease areas is more prominent. The plant protection station of Pi County in Xuzhou District appraised in the Xiangshang Commune that the fresh potato yield of "Xushu 18" was 1277.5kg per mu, and the "Shengli 100" had no output and no income; In Aishan and Daizhuang, the production of "Xushu 18" was 2.3 times and 5.4 times higher than that of "Shengli 100" respectively. Seven identification tests were carried out in Tai'an Prefecture of Shandong Province in 1977. In each test, "Xushu 18" was listed as a first class disease resistant variety, and its yield also ranked first. Compared with the local promotion of "Yanshu 3", the yield increased by 54.6%. [3 ]
Fresh potato yield: 3543 kg/mu in the first growth cycle, 36.6% more than that of Shengli 100; In the second growth cycle, the yield per mu was 3321kg, 39.7% more than that of Shengli 100, the control; Dry potato yield: 995.6 kg/mu in the first growth cycle, 54.8% more than that of Shengli 100; In the second growth cycle, the yield per mu was 933.2 kg, 55.3% more than that of Shengli 100. Suitable area

Announce

Xushu 18 is suitable for planting in spring and summer in Jiangsu, China. It is not resistant to stem nematode disease, and comprehensive disease prevention measures should be taken when planting in nematode disease areas. [1 ]

cultivation techniques

Announce
edit
  1. one
    The germination is good, and the seed output per square meter is controlled at about 20 kg to facilitate the cultivation of strong seedlings;
  2. two
    The overground growth is strong, and reasonable fertilization should be paid attention to to control the vigorous growth of stems and leaves and affect the underground yield;
  3. three
    It is highly resistant to root rot, and the effect of increasing production is better when planted in disease areas;
  4. four
    Planting virus-free seedlings and reproducing seeds in disease-free areas to maintain the purity of seed potatoes. [1 ]

Meaningful value

Xushu 18 is highly resistant to root rot, which effectively alleviates one of the serious diseases restricting sweet potato production in China. The breeding and large-scale popularization of Xushu 18 have achieved significant economic and social benefits. Xushu 18 is a high-yield and high starch variety with the largest promotion area in China. It has won the first prize of the National Science and Technology Invention Award and has been used as a control variety in national regional trials. [2 ]
According to statistics, from 1988 to 2016, China directly identified 52 sweet potato varieties using Xushu 18. There are 0-6 new sweet potato varieties identified by Xushu18 every year, with an average of 1.79 each year. From the changes of sweet potato varieties identified in China from 1988 to 2016, the number of new varieties identified by directional hybridization was 42, accounting for 80.8%; The number of new varieties identified by laissez faire pollination was 10, accounting for 19.2%. Directional hybridization is the main means of breeding new sweet potato varieties using Xushu 18. There were 18 using Xushu 18 as the male parent, accounting for 34.6%; There were 34 using Xushu 18 as female parent (including group hybridization), accounting for 65.4%. [2 ]
