The Natural Museum of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is a public institution directly under the Department of Culture of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It has been listed as a national key museum by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage. It is also one of the two provincial natural museums in the strategic area of China's western development. It is now a national science popularization education base.There are more than 30000 natural specimens of plants, animals, rocks, minerals, paleontological fossils, etc.It is characterized by the collection, research and display of abundant fossils of giant panda saber tooth elephant fauna, nonferrous metal minerals and rare rare earth metal minerals, and rare specimens of animals and plants such as white headed langur, Yaoshan crocodile lizard, camellia, spinulosa spinulosa, and silver fir.

The museum, formerly known as the Natural Science Department of Guangxi Provincial Museum established on July 1, 1934, was officially opened from the Natural Science Department of the Autonomous Region Museum in 1988 to the public on New Year's Day in 1989.It is subordinate to the Department of Culture of the Autonomous Region.
Most of the studies on the discovered paleovertebrates and new genera and species of plants in the museum were completed by professionals in the museum, and some were completed in cooperation with professionals from other scientific research institutions.Most of the research papers have been published in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology, the Journal of Plant Classification and the 1984 Scientific Report No. 35 of the Japanese Whale Research Institute.A small number of professional journals have been selected for publication.In addition, there is a brief introduction in the museum.
