The Library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, located in the Minzu Avenue of Nanning City, is the largest comprehensive provincial public library in Guangxi, the Guangxi branch center of the national cultural information resource sharing project and the Guangxi ancient book protection center, and the key ancient book protection unit of the country and the autonomous region.[1]
The predecessor of the Library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is the Xuanhua Library, which was funded and built in 1924. In 1931, it was renamed the Second Library of Guangxi Province, in 1958, it was renamed the Second Library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and in 1980, it was renamed the current name. The new library was completed and put into use in July 1987, and in May 2018, it was rated asNational first-class library。[2]
As of December 2018, the library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has a building area of 54000 square meters, 17 borrowing rooms, about 2000 reading seats, 16 institutional departments and 179 staff on the payroll;The total collection is more than 4.21 million volumes, and the digital resources are nearly 212.4TB.[3-4]

The predecessor of the Library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is Xuanhua Library, which was built by some citizens of Nanning in 1924.
In 1931, it was renamed the Second Guangxi Provincial Library.
On February 15, 1934, the Second Guangxi Provincial Library officially opened.
In 1944, when the Japanese invaded Guangxi, the Second Provincial Library of Guangxi moved to Baise.
In 1946, the Second Provincial Library of Guangxi moved back to Nanning and lost most of its books.
In 1949, after the founding of New China, the government allocated funds to build new buildings in Nanning People's Park (now Bailong Park);Later, a branch hall was built at the Beining Street Crossing of Chaoyang Square.
In 1958, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was established and renamed the Second Library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
In 1980, it was renamed the Library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
In 1981, a new pavilion was built on the east side of Qiyi Avenue (now Minzu Avenue) in Nanning.
In July 1987, the new library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was completed and put into use.[2][5]
In May 2022, the Library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region upgraded and deployed more than 50 WiFi6 wireless access points in the reader service area of the reading building. After a month of trial operation, it has been officially launched.[25]

According to the information on the official website of the library in March 2019, the library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has collected 117022 ancient books, including 5818 rare books and more than 400 kinds. The ancient books include a large number of writings by scholars who came from Guangxi in the Ming and Qing dynasties or who came from Guangxi, involving sciencePhonology、historiography, Mozi Studies, etc.17 ancient books including Five Classics and Five Volumes, Four Books and Nineteen Volumes were selected《National List of Precious Ancient Books》。[6]

Library Circle is a professional journal of library science sponsored by Guangxi Library Society and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Library.It was founded in 1980 and officially published in China in 1986.The main columns are theoretical exploration, work discussion, ancient book research, scientific research projects, review forum, and other stones from other mountains (introducing the advanced experience of libraries in China and abroad).This journal was recognized as one of the core journals of library science by the Journal Research Association of Peking University Library and Peking University Library, and was included in the Outline of Chinese Core Journals (the first edition).[12]

Certificate handling instructions
1. Readers (including those who are not registered in this city) need to show their original valid certificates (ID card, household register, military card, passport, driver's license, etc.) when handling library cards.All kinds of library cards are free of production cost and annual service charge (deposit of library card is required).Each person is limited to one library card of the same type.
2. The validity period of the library card is two years. At the expiration of the period, please take the original of your valid certificate and the library card to the card office for free verification or log on to the library website for self-service verification before continuing to use.
3. Please fill in the Card Application Form truthfully, and the handwriting should be neat and clear.The contact address must indicate the street number, the full name of the unit or the full name of the residential area, building number and household number.
4. If the reader loses the library card, please report the loss to the card office with the original valid card to avoid unnecessary losses.One week after the loss is reported, you can take the original of the valid certificate to the card office to go through the formalities for returning the certificate, and at the same time, you can re apply for a new certificate (5 yuan of production cost shall be paid for the replacement of the lost certificate).
5. The library card is the deposit certificate. If you need to return the card, please pay off the borrowed books, magazines and audio-visual materials, pay off the overdue fees, and then go to the card office with the original of your valid certificate and library card to handle the return formalities.

Borrowing rules
1. The audio and video card is N1 type, with a deposit of 100 yuan, a 14 day loan period, and 5 CDs or 1 TV series.
2、Class P Chinese book certificate, the book borrowing period is 30 days, and the book is renewed for 10 days;The periodical is borrowed for 10 days, and no renewal is available.
3. The book can be renewed once for 10 days, that is, the total borrowing period is 40 days.However, the renewal procedures must be handled within 30 days after the book is borrowed (i.e. before the deadline).
4. If you lose the library literature, you should immediately report it to the library and actively search for it. You can offset it with the same version, or with other versions of the same content after approval, and pay a processing fee of 5 yuan.The library will allow one month to search for compensation documents, during which time it will stop borrowing.If it is impossible to compensate for documents of the same version within the specified time, compensation shall be made according to the following standards: for Chinese and foreign language books available for lending, compensation shall be made according to the data value, publishing year and other factors at the price of 2-20 times.2 times of the original price for books published within 2 years;3 times of the original price for books published within 3-5 years;5 times of the original price for books published within 6-10 years;10 times of the original price for books published within 11-20 years;For books that have been published for more than 20 years, the compensation shall be 20 times of the original price.[23]
