Shandong University of Science and Technology originated from the Second Coal Mine Vocational School in Shandong Mining Area established in 1951 and Jinan Coal Mine School established in 1956. In July 1951, the General Administration of Coal Mines of the Ministry of Fuel Industry of the Central People's Government agreed to open the Second Coal Mining Vocational School in Hongshan, Shandong.[36]The school is located in Xishan, Hongshan Coal Mine, the former site of the sanatorium of the Ministry of Industry and Mines in East China.On September 10, the name of the school was changed from "Shandong Mining Area No. 2 Coal Mine Vocational School" to "Shandong Mining Bureau No. 2 Coal Mine Vocational School".[37]On October 23, according to the document of the Education Department of the State Administration of Coal Mines, "the Second Coal Mine Vocational School of Shandong Mining Bureau" was renamed "Hongshan Coal Mine Vocational School", which is subordinate to Shandong Mining Bureau.In July 1952, according to the instructions of the General Administration of Coal Mines of the Ministry of Fuel Industry of the Central People's Government, the name of the school was changed to "Hongshan Coal Mine Industrial School of the Ministry of Fuel Industry of the Central People's Government", or "Hongshan Coal School" for short.[36]

In June 1962, the Ministry of Education held a national education conference and decided to merge a number of newly launched colleges and secondary professional schools.Then the Shandong Provincial Party Committee held a meeting on the adjustment of colleges and universities, and decided to dismount Shandong Coal Mine Institute and revoke itClosed.[176]In March 1963, the State Council approved the retention of Shandong Coal Mine College, and Huainan Institute of Mining revoked the instruction of merging into Shandong Coal Mine College.In June, the State Council approved the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Coal, agreeing to revoke Jiangxi Coal Mine Institute and merge part of it into Shandong Coal Mine Institute.The Ministry of Coal and the Shandong Provincial Coal Management Bureau revoked the Shandong Coal Cadre College (Maanshan Cadre School) under the Shandong Provincial Coal Management Bureau.In July, Shandong Provincial Department of Education decided to incorporate the mining electromechanical specialty of Jinan Institute of Technology into Shandong Coal Mine Institute. In January 1995, the university was approved to enroll foreign students.On October 6, the university was approved as a doctoral degree awarding unit, and the mining engineering discipline was approved to grant doctoral degrees.[182]In July 1998, the General Office of the State Council made it clear that the College would start to operate under the new management system from September, implement the co construction of the central and local governments, and focus on local management.[182]
Shandong Coal Education College
In July 1975, Shandong Provincial Revolutionary Committee approved the establishment of Shandong Coal Mine Cadre School, but for various reasons, the construction was delayed.In June 1979, the Planning Commission of Shandong Province approved the reconstruction of Shandong Coal Mine School to run a school together with Shandong Coal Mine Cadre School.[6]In February 1983, after the study of the Party Leadership Group of Shandong Provincial Bureau, it was decided that the "Shandong Coal Mine Teachers Training College" running in Guojiaquan, Xinwen City, would be renamed Shandong Coal Mine Education College, and moved to Tai'an in December. It merged with the "Shandong Coal Mine School" and the "Shandong Coal Mine Cadre School" to form a school running model of "one school and two schools".[4]In August 1994, it was named "National Key Technical Secondary School" by the former National Education Commission, and became one of the ten key higher vocational colleges in China.[6]
Shandong Finance School
In March 1964, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Shandong Provincial Accounting School was established as a secondary professional school. At the beginning of its establishment, it temporarily borrowed the buildings of Qingdao Health School to run the school. In June of the same year, it moved to Tai'an.In September, it was approved by the People's Committee of Shandong Province to become Shandong Provincial School of Finance and Accounting.In May 1976, Shandong Provincial Revolutionary Committee renamed it Shandong Provincial Finance School.Since 1977, the school has enrolled senior high school graduates in the regular technical secondary school class.In June 1982, the Shandong Provincial Staff Education Committee approved the establishment of the Shandong Provincial Finance Staff Secondary College, which is mainly for the education of some staff in the financial and tax system. It is the same set of institutions and two brands as the Shandong Provincial Finance School.In 1985, the People's Government of Shandong Province approved the establishment of Shandong Provincial Finance Staff University on the basis of Shandong Provincial Finance School, which maintains one set of institutions and two brands with Shandong Provincial Finance School.In July 1992, Shandong Finance Staff University moved to Shandong Finance College.[5]

In 1999, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Shandong Province, Shandong University of Mining and Technology was merged with Shandong Institute of Coal Education to form Shandong University of Science and Technology.In March 2001, the People's Government of Shandong Province approved the incorporation of Shandong Provincial Finance School into Shandong University of Science and Technology, and at the same time, in Qingdao Economic and Technological Development ZoneBuild a new campus.[4]

There are eight roads across the river, passing through 20 water level drop points, from the high half acre pond in the west of the campus, all the way slowly to Ruoshui Park, nourishing the whole school.There are 176 ginkgo trees planted on the north bank of the campus, forming a beautiful autumn scenery on campus.There are weeping willows on the south bank of the river. Bijia Mountain is 140 meters above sea level and covers an area of 0.3 square kilometers. It is named because the top of the mountain looks like a pen rack. It is also called Dongmen Mountain because there is a cave on the mountain;It is said that it was made from a piece of bean foam dropped by the Mother Dou when she was making tofu. It is also calledDoumu Mountain.On Bijia Mountain, there are luxuriant trees, such as evergreen and pine trees.[204]Bijia Mountain has a mountaineering trail with a total length of about 770 meters and 399 steps. The middle section of the trail is equipped with east-west double lines. The pavement is paved with granite chips and grass planting bricks.Qianti Pavilion is built on the top of the mountain.
