Baolian Lantern is a mythical drama produced by China International Television Corporation, directed by Yu Mingsheng and Zhao Jian, written by Li Hongwei in the ninth year, and starred by Cao Jun, Shu Chang, Liu Xiaoqing, Jiao Enjun, Liu Yuqiao and Lin Xiangping[10]。
The play is adapted from the fairy tale of Chen Xiang's rescue of his mother by splitting the mountain. It tells the story of Liu Chen Xiang, the son of the Third Holy Mother, who learned all kinds of skills after going through all kinds of hardships, and with the help of his uncle and master and other immortal families, he split Hua Mountain to save his mother.[2]

The Baolian Lantern is adapted from the mythical story of Chen Xiang splitting the mountain to save his mother.[2]During the adaptation process, the script writing team enriched the plot and characters on the basis of the story of "Chenxiang chopping the mountain to save her mother". There were more than 30 immortals with names alone.The "big people" familiar to the audience are mainly from Journey to the West and Gods List. Preliminary preparation
The preliminary preparation of "Baolian Lantern" took two years.[31]In this process, the crew is faced with heavy work of setting up scenes.CCTV attaches great importance to "Baolian Lantern", so they have appointed an artist Zhang Peng to design the exterior model.[32-33]
Role selection
The crew originally intended to invite Liu Xiaoqing to play the role of Queen Mother Fanyi. Considering that her age is similar to the Queen Mother's setting, and her big sister's temperament in the movie world is highly consistent with the Queen Mother's image.After reading the script, Liu Xiaoqing was deeply moved by the strong maternal love and family affection, and was eager to shape this role.However, due to Liu Xiaoqing's tight schedule, there was a conflict with the shooting time of "Baolian Lantern".In order to show sincerity, the producer of "Baolian Lantern" suggested that Liu Xiaoqing arrange his other affairs first, and then go into the group to shoot.[34]
Special effects
Producer Li Gongda said that the three designers in charge of computer effects produced the cool effect of "Baolian Lantern".He said that it took 20 minutes to generate an animation effect of 1 second. The 4000 second animation originally agreed with the designer for "Baolian Lantern" ended up being 12000 seconds. Only the generation process accumulated 4000 hours, and it would take 166 days without sleep[18]。
Clothing props
The production team of "Baolian Lantern" used a lot of lightweight plain yarn, thick but textured cowhide, and luxurious and delicate wool in clothing manufacturers.[35]In order to create a cloud shrouded atmosphere, the crew spent nearly 300000 yuan on dry ice.[36]

Since November 2003, the crew has meticulously built a unique and scary "hell" scene in Hengdian.In the following year, the crew completed the construction of the "Lingxiao Temple", "Queen Mother Yaochi" and "South Heaven Gate".In addition, in order to truly restore the magnificent momentum and hard journey of the agarwood chopping the mountain to save the mother, the crew spared no expense to build a cave with an area of more than 5000 square meters as the shooting scene of imprisoning the Three Madonnas.[32-33]
