The school was founded in 1958, and went through the school running period of Anhui Construction Engineering School, Anhui Institute of Architecture and Technology, Hefei University of Technology, etc. In 1986, Anhui Institute of Architecture and Technology was re established, and in 2013, it was renamed Anhui University of Architecture and Construction.[1]

In September 1958, in order to support and build Anhui,Suzhou Construction Engineering School324 teachers and students and 4 teachers from Shenyang Planned Economy School came to Hefei, and together with 179 teachers and students from the cadre training class of Anhui Provincial Department of Construction, Anhui Construction Engineering School was established, which was located in Chengang (nowHuizhou Avenue）。

In September 1960, with the approval of the State Council, the Department of Civil Engineering of Hefei University of Technology (89 students and 7 teachers) was incorporated, and Anhui Institute of Architecture and Technology was officially established. Mr. Guo Moruo personally inscribed the name of the school.
In 1961, due to the country's economic difficulties, Anhui Institute of Architecture and Technology was revoked, and the former teachers and students of Hefei University of Technology were withdrawn. The two selected junior college classes continued to complete their studies in Anhui Institute of Technology.
In 1962, Anhui Provincial People's Committee decided to cancel Anhui Construction Engineering School.Dongchengang campus was taken over by the 104 Hospital of the PLA, and the rest of the school moved to Anhui Jiaotong University.
In April 1963, Anhui Provincial People's Committee decided to retain Anhui Construction Engineering School.
In August 1964, the school moved to Lingdatang (the original province built six new prefabrication plants, now Dongliu Road Jianghuai Automobile Group dormitory area), set up two majors of industrial and civil construction, building materials inspection, and resumed enrollment in the same year.
In 1969, the school staff went down to the Bieshan District.
In 1971, Anhui Provincial Bureau of Capital Construction decided to merge Anhui Construction Engineering School with the Technical School of Anhui Provincial Bureau of Capital Construction to establish the Construction Engineering School of Anhui Provincial Bureau of Capital Construction, which is located in Jinzhai Road where the Technical School is located (now the north campus of the school).
In 1972, the school set up two majors, namely, industrial and civil architecture, and cement technology, and began to recruit workers, peasants and soldiers from 1973.
In October 1976, the "Cultural Revolution" ended.The provincial party committee decided to set up the Anhui Construction School Teaching Center of Hefei University of Technology in Anhui Construction Engineering School, and set up the major of industrial and civil architecture. In 1977, the first batch of 40 undergraduate students were recruited, and they entered in the spring of 1978.
In March 1983, with the approval of the People's Government of Anhui Province, the Anhui Construction School of Hefei University of Technology was renamed as the Architecture Branch of Hefei University of Technology. At that time, he was the secretary of Anhui Provincial Party CommitteeHuanghuangWrite the name of the school in person.[3]

In January 2006, the school added 5 master degree programs in engineering mechanics, materials science, structural engineering, municipal engineering, urban planning and design.
In 2005, the school launched the civil engineering professional evaluation.
In 2007, the university received the Ministry of Education's undergraduate teaching evaluation and was awarded the excellent grade.[4]
In March 2013, the Ministry of Education agreed to change the name of Anhui Institute of Architecture and Technology to Anhui University of Architecture and Technology, and at the same time, the organizational system of Anhui Institute of Architecture and Technology was revoked.[6]
On May 4, 2023, the inauguration ceremony of the new school history hall of Anhui Jianzhu University was held in the school history hall of the South Campus.[46]In November, civil engineering was approved as a post doctoral research mobile station.[49]
