On October 8, 2008, the Ministry of Railways held a meeting in Beijing, and the pre feasibility study report of the additional second line (double track) project of the Hefei Xi'an section of the Ningxi Railway passed the review smoothly, which marked that the preliminary work of the additional second line project of the Ningxi Railway had taken a substantive step.
In May 2012, the bidding information for the construction of the second line of the Xi'an Hefei section of the Ningxi Railway was released. On August 22, the Shaanxi Section of the Additional Second Line Project of Nanjing Xi'an Railway was officially launched. On September 18, the construction of Xintaohuapu Tunnel 2 of the Shangluo Section of the second line of Ningxi Railway was officially started, marking the full commencement of the second line of Ningxi Railway. [1] On October 19, the meeting on land acquisition, demolition and construction environmental protection of the second line of Ningxi Railway was held. On October 23, the mobilization ceremony for the construction of the second line of the Ningxi Railway (Shaanxi Section) was held in Xi'an, and the construction of the double track officially kicked off. The construction period is 42 months.
On August 20, 2013, the first power pole of NXZH-2 bid section contracted by China Railway Construction Electrification Bureau was successfully erected in Shangcheng County. The electric power project has always been the "vanguard" of the four electric projects, and the progress of electric power construction has a direct impact on the later joint commissioning and test run and the timely opening of lines. The success of the first power pole marks the official opening of the four power relocation project of the new second line of Nanjing West Railway, Luoshan Railway - K655+800~K800+400. On September 16, the reconstruction project of Gushi Station of the NXZQ-3 Bid Section of the Additional Second Line of Ningxi Railway, undertaken by Harbin Railway Construction Company of China Railway Construction 22nd Bureau Group, started construction. The NXZQ-3 Bid Section of the Additional Second Line of Ningxi Railway is 73.2km long and passes through 6 stations. Gushi Station, located in Gushi County, Xinyang City, Henan Province, is the first station yard reconstruction project of the NXZQ-3 Bid Section of the Additional Second Line of Ningxi Railway. After the completion of the reconstruction project of Gushi Station, the problems of export of agricultural and sideline products and passenger travel in southeast Henan will be solved. It is estimated that nearly 100 million tons of chestnuts and other agricultural and sideline products can be transported out of Gushi every year, and nearly 100 pairs of trains will be added, which will greatly alleviate the tense transportation situation in this area and play a positive role in accelerating the local economic construction. [2] On October 12, with the completion of the concrete pouring of abutment 0, the main body of NX5 Baihe Super Major Bridge of Ningxi Second Line (the section under the management of Zhengzhou Railway Bureau) undertaken by China Railway Seventh Group was successfully completed. The Baihe Bridge is the largest bridge in the NX5 bid section, and its successful completion paves the way for the subsequent overall construction. The starting point of Baihe Bridge is located in the east of Dingfengdian Village, Liaohe Town, Wolong District, Nanyang City, with a total length of 1.125km. At the end of October, the 110 kV Danfeng traction and power supply project of Nanjing Xichang Second Line Electrified Railway (110 kV Zhangjiakou Danfeng I and II lines are rerouted) was successfully put into operation, providing reliable Dual power supply At the same time, the project reconstructed the 30 km old conductors of Zhangdan I and II lines, and added a communication optical cable, which greatly improved the power supply capacity and reliability of the eastern power grid of Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province. It is understood that the smooth operation of the project has doubled the power supply capacity of the power grid to Danfeng County, Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province and Ningxi Railway, providing reliable power supply guarantee for the operation of the second line of Ningxi Railway. On November 5, the special construction scheme for the replacement of existing seamless lines and the transfer of business lines of the existing lines of the NX4 Bid Section of the Additional Second Line of Ningxi Railway (the section under the management of Zhengzhou Railway Bureau) was successfully reviewed, and the "green card" for the replacement of existing seamless lines was obtained. The successful passing of the review of the special construction scheme for the replacement of long rails on the existing line has provided a reliable technical guarantee for this work and laid a solid foundation for the construction safety of the railway business line. On December 4, the continuous beam of the Nanjing West Second Line NX1 Bid Project Department of the Fourth Company of China Railway Construction 15th Bureau Group across the South to North Water Transfer Project and Jiaozhou Liuzhou Railway Bridge was successfully closed. The total length of the bridge is 647.65m. The bridge span is arranged as follows: 2-32m simply supported T-beam+1 - (60 + 100 + 60) m continuous beam+(7-32 + 1-20 + 4-24) m simply supported T-beam. There are 16 piers and 2 abutments, with the highest pier of 10.25m and the lowest pier of 4.75m. The total length of the cast-in-place beam spanning the suspended wall of the South to North Water Transfer Project is 220m, the main span of the South to North Water Transfer Project is 100m, and the spans on both sides are 60m. (Piers 3 and 4 are the main piers of the South to North Water Transfer Project) On December 28, under the order of Li Jianzhi, the project manager of the Ningxi Second Line Project Department, the Ninth Branch of the Third Company of China Railway Electrification Bureau Group was responsible for the construction of the electrification project of Section NX9 of Ningxi Second Line (under the management of Zhengzhou Railway Bureau), and the first electrification pole was erected at the construction site of Baiqiu Station of Zhengzhou Railway Bureau, It marks the official commencement of the "four electricity" project behind the station of the NX9 bid section of the second Nanjing West Railway.
On May 24, 2015, Xinmogouling Tunnel, a 6900m long control project of the second line (Shaanxi section) of Ningxi Railway, located in the hinterland of Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi Province, was successfully completed. [4] At 11:49 a.m. on December 11, the first passenger train of K467 from Ningbo to Xi'an passed through the trial Ma Grand Bridge contracted by the Road and Bridge Company of China Railway Seventh Bureau, marking the opening of the second line (Shaanxi section) of the Ningxi Railway. [6] The main line of Ningxi Railway is 1086 km long, and the main line of the additional second line is 952 km long. After the completion of the project, the train from Hefei to Xi'an can shorten the short circuit time by nearly half. [3]

The west end of Ningxi Railway connects with Baotou West Railway in the north, and connects with North China via Beijing Baotou Railway; It is connected to Xikang Railway in the south, and reaches Chengdu and Chongqing via Yang'an, Baocheng, Xiangyu and other railways, connecting southwest China; It is connected to the west section of Longhai Railway and Xiping Railway in the west, and directly reaches Xinjiang via Baozhong, Baolan, Ganwu, Lanxin and other railways; The middle section intersects Jiaozhou Liuzhou, Beijing Guangzhou, Beijing Kowloon and other railways, and the east end connects with Beijing Shanghai Railway, forming another new east-west trunk line across central China, filling the gap that there is no east-west railway within 400 kilometers between Longhai Railway, Xiangfan Chongqing Railway and Handan Railway, which can be connected from east to west, as well as separated from south to north, relieving the pressure of transportation through various trunk lines in the area, It greatly enhances the flexibility of the road network and is of great significance in the road network. The construction of this line can link up the eastern, central and western economic zones, strengthen the transportation links between the northwest, north and southwest and eastern, central and southern China, and accelerate the economic development of each region; To ease the pressure of passenger and freight transportation of Longhai Railway, the east-west connection plays an important role in developing coal fields such as Yushen in northern Shaanxi, promoting industrial and agricultural development and resource development along the line, and accelerating the old revolutionary base areas to get rid of poverty and become rich. It is also an indispensable important infrastructure in the strategic transfer of China's economy from the eastern region to the central and western regions.
The route also shortens the transportation distance from East China to Central South, Northwest and Southwest China. The transportation distance from Nanjing to Xi'an alone is shortened by about 200 kilometers. The Ningxi Railway runs through the three economic zones of East, West and Central China, which is conducive to improving the investment environment in central and western China and expanding the degree of opening up. For the economically developed areas in East China, the Ningxi Line has opened up a shortcut to China and the northwest, expanded the radiation of East China's economy, and provided it with powerful resources, labor and market hinterland support. In addition, the Ningxi Railway has greatly enhanced the transportation adjustment capacity in the northwest, east and south central regions of China, which is of great significance to resist natural disasters and strengthen national defense construction.
