Jiang Desheng was born on March 1, 1949 in HubeiWuhanPeople.
From April 1972 to December 1973, he entered Hubei Institute of Construction and Engineering as a student of workers, peasants and soldiers (nowWuhan University of Technology）Study silicate materials and obtain a bachelor's degree after graduation.
From September 1979 to August 1983, he worked in the Department of Mathematics and Physics of Wuhan Institute of Building Materials Industry.
From September 1983 to July 1984, he entered the English training class for overseas personnel of the State Building Materials Administration.
From September 1983 to August 1989, he served as the director of the Laser Institute of Wuhan University of Technology.
From October 1985 to February 1986, as a visiting scholarFranceAnger University studies nonlinear optics.[2]
From September 1989 to June 2000, served as the director of the Research Center for Optical Fiber Sensing Technology of Wuhan University of Technology.
In 2000, it founded the Science and Engineering Optics Co., Ltd. to provide optical fiber sensing detection systems for the safety monitoring of major projects in the fields of bridge transportation, fire detection, petroleum and petrochemical in China.[1]
In December 2007, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (Ministry of Chemical Industry, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering).[3]

According to March 2020Chinese Academy of EngineeringAccording to the official website, Jiang Desheng has presided over and completed more than 20 national, provincial and ministerial science and technology projects. Through interdisciplinary and technology integration research and development, a series of innovative achievements have been made, especially in the preparation of optical fiber sensing sensitive materials, precision processing of optical fiber sensors, and key technologies and equipment for industrial production,It has built the only national engineering laboratory in the field of optical fiber sensing technology in China, taking the lead in realizing the industrialization of optical fiber sensing technology in the country;It has broken China's foreign technology blockade, formed a complete set of production technology and equipment with China's independent intellectual property rights, and provided a new generation of sensing technology urgently needed for many industries, major projects and military industry in China.[1]
At the end of the 1970s, Jiang Desheng successfully developed the optical fiber wind pressure gauge for the first time in China. During a wind load test of high-rise buildings involving dozens of units, a typhoon struck, and the optical fiber wind pressure gauge developed by Jiang Desheng worked normally and obtained valuable test data.
In 2004, Jiang Desheng realized the real-time online safety detection of bridge cable force for the first time, and timely found the potential safety hazards in the construction of a bridge.This technology has been successfully applied to the long-term safety monitoring of more than 10 large bridges, such as the Second Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge. At the same time, Jiang Desheng has applied this device to the safety prediction of old bridges.[4]

According to the official website of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in March 2020, Jiang Desheng won two second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, one second prize of the National Technological Invention Award, one third prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, three first prizes and three second prizes of the provincial and ministerial awards.[1]

Wide range of interests
Jiang Desheng has a strong learning ability and a wide range of interests. At 5:30 p.m. every day, Jiang Desheng and Lei can't move his table tennis time. When his interest comes, he also asks someone to kill some Go games.[11]
