Construction history

Announce
edit
On March 28, 2002, the construction of Fuxing Bridge was officially started. [2]
On September 8, 2002, affected by the storm surge of Qiantang River, the piers of Fuxing Bridge under construction were washed down, and the temporary 300 meter bridge under construction was destroyed. [4]
On October 16, 2004, the whole line of Fuxing Bridge was opened to traffic. [3]
Since November 2012, Fuxing Bridge has started a large-scale maintenance project, paving SMA modified asphalt on some 7000 square meters of bridge pavement to replace the original ordinary asphalt. [5]
Since November 2015, Fuxing Bridge has started the upgrading and reconstruction project, mainly renovating the asphalt pavement on the upper deck and replacing all street lamps on the lower deck that provide lighting services for vehicles. [6]
In September 2023, Fuxing Bridge successfully completed the overall "renovation" of Hangzhou Fuxing Bridge, and "internal and external" repair. [6]

Technical difficulties

Because the Fuxing Bridge site is located in the deep riverbed, the impact of tidal bore and wind waves is relatively large, and in addition, the requirements of navigation and other factors during the construction period, it is necessary to adopt the construction method without supports. The whole bridge arch rib adopts the construction method of hoisting steel pipe arch rib first, then pouring steel pipe concrete, and the tie beam adopts the method of pre erecting reinforced skeleton first, then erecting formwork and cast-in-place concrete. [3]

Honor recognition

Fuxing Bridge has successively won the "West Lake Cup" Award for Hangzhou Construction Project in 2004, the Qianjiang Cup Award for Zhejiang Construction Project in 2005, the National Municipal Golden Cup Demonstration Project Award in 2005, and the Luban Prize of China Construction Engineering (National Quality Project) and 2006 China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award Etc. [11]
On October 29, 2009, Fuxing Bridge was selected as one of the "One Hundred Classic and Excellent Projects of New China". [7]

building structure

Fuxing Bridge is a river crossing bridge of urban roads, and also a double deck double main arch concrete-filled steel tube composite tied arch bridge integrating top through, half through and bottom through arch bridges, which adopts composite span technology. The double deck system of the bridge also adopts a complex spatial structure system, consisting of multiple structures such as beams, rods, slabs, steel pipes, steel rigid frameworks, prestressed reinforcement It is composed of concrete and other materials, including steel members, concrete-filled steel tubular members, concrete-filled square steel tubular members, etc [3] The upper layer of the bridge is equipped with a two-way 6-lane express lane, which is connected to the Zhonghe Viaduct and the ground through Fuxing Interchange in the north, and Century Avenue and Jiangnan Avenue on the ground through Zhongxing Interchange in the south; It is connected to the road of Phoenix Community in the north and Century Avenue and Binsheng Road in the south; Bus lanes, non motor vehicle lanes and special facilities for the disabled are set on both sides. As of November 2009, it is the most comprehensive urban bridge in China [7]

Design parameters

The total length of the main bridge of Fuxing Bridge is 1376 meters. The span combination of the whole bridge is: 2 × 45.75+2 × 89+196+5 × 89+196+2 × 89+2 × 45.75=1376 meters. The two spans of 2 × 45.75 meters are of double-layer prestressed concrete box girder structure with equal height. The span combination of the main bridge is 2 × 85+190+5 × 85+190+2 × 85 meters. The 85 meter span is the combination of through tied arch bridge and through arch bridge, Meet the requirements for the minimum navigable span (the navigable clear width is required to be greater than 80m), and the 190m span is a combination of through tied arch bridge and half through arch bridge [8] The bridge is about 2500 meters long and 26.4 meters wide, including the connection between the north and south banks. The upper layer of the bridge is 25 meters wide, with six two-way motor vehicle express lanes; The lower layer consists of three independent bridges, with bus lanes, bicycle and pedestrian passages on the left and right sides, each 7 meters wide. The center is designed as a reserved land for light rail, 7.6 meters wide, which can be used as a motorway. There are 10 motorways on the whole floor [3]
Fuxing Bridge has also set up eight viewing platforms with an average area of about 370 square meters for tourists. At the same time, there are vertical elevators for tourists at both ends of the bridge [9]

  • Passage
Since August 10, 2015, some lanes of the south approach bridge of Fuxing Bridge have been installed with a vehicle dynamic weighing system. Within two weeks after installation, 2203 vehicles passing by exceeded the load limit standard (40 tons of road weight limit), accounting for 6.4% of the total number of trucks, including 684 overweight vehicles with more than 55 tons, and the heaviest vehicles with a total weight of 115 tons [10]

Value significance

The Fuxing Bridge connects the vibrant Binjiang District, Xiaoshan District and Hangzhou's old city into a whole, making Hangzhou officially enter the era of Qiantang River. (commented by Sina News Center) [2]
After the Fuxing Bridge was opened to traffic, the time for cars coming from the city center to cross the river directly from the elevated road to Binjiang District and Xiaoshan District was greatly shortened. (Zhejiang Online Review) [1]
The innovative significance of Fuxing Bridge mainly lies in that it is a new type of steel tube concrete tied arch bridge combining large and small arches. It has multiple spans, including two main arches with a span of 190 meters and nine small arches with a span of 85 meters. The opening of "Fuxing Bridge" has created necessary conditions for the smooth implementation of Hangzhou's strategy of "development along the river and development across the river".
