Sethraman Panchaleson's research interests include people-oriented multimedia computing, genome signal processing, analysis and recognition of faces, gait, and emotions, and design of media processors.[6]

Sethraman Panchaleson has developed a face classification system based on curvature multi-scale morphology, which can classify images through the most prominent features;A method of tracking objects in video sequence by selecting objects of interest in the first and last frames of video is developed;A reconfigurable circuit device is also developed to run computer programs of medium complexity, such as multimedia processing.[4]
