Mobile communication system is mainly composed of mobile station, base station subsystem and network subsystem. The BTS and the Base Station Controller constitute the base station subsystem. A complete BTS includes wireless transmitting/receiving equipment, antenna and signal processing parts unique to all wireless interfaces. BTS can be regarded as a wireless modem, which is responsible for receiving and sending mobile signals. Generally, in a certain area, multiple sub base stations and transceivers form a cellular network with each other. The transmission of mobile communication signals is achieved by controlling the transmission and reception of signals between transceivers and transceivers.
OpenBTS It is an open source wireless base station. It is based on the software GSM access port. It provides standard GSM compatible mobile phones. It does not need to use the interface of an existing telephone provider to dial the interface of an existing telephone system. OpenBTS is known as the first GSM protocol stack based on the industry standard of open source software.
BTS includes baseband unit, carrier frequency unit and control unit.
1. The baseband unit is mainly used for voice and data rate adaptation, channel coding, etc.
2. Carrier frequency unit is mainly used for coupling between modulation/demodulation and transmitter/receiver.
3. The control unit is used for the operation and maintenance of BTS.
BTS includes various hardware and software required for wireless transmission, including:
1. Transmitter and receiver.
2. Antennas required to support various upper cell structures (such as omnidirectional, fan-shaped, star shaped and chain shaped).
3. The signal processing circuit related to the wireless interface realizes the formation and management of frames and time slots required for multiple access multiplexing, as well as the channel encoding, decoding, encryption, decryption, rate adaptation and other functions required for improving wireless transmission.
4. Detection and control devices required by the transceiver itself.
