The first flight of Long March 3B launched the international communication satellite 708. Twenty two seconds after the rocket took off, its attitude lost control. The rocket loaded with fuel crashed into a hillside 1850 meters away from the launch tower. The explosion happened near the dormitories where the space engineers and technicians lived. The strong air waves suddenly broke down the steel reinforced concrete buildings, killing 6 people and injuring 57 people.[1]
