After the third session, when TV stations and artists adopted new contractual relationships, singers became non signing objects; The TV station then struggled to find the candidates for the annual Golden Bell Award. However, some businessmen proposed to abolish the male and female singers' awards. Since there was a Golden Tripod Award in the publishing industry that included the record award, the Golden Bell Award has deleted the male and female singers' awards since seventy-seven.
Since the previous seven Golden Melody Awards were established for popular music, in order to make the Golden Melody Awards the only and highest honor of music awards in Taiwan and avoid repeated waste of human resources and financial resources, the two activities of the Golden Tripod Award for Records and the Golden Melody Awards have been merged since the eighth session, and the awards have been redesigned to include classical music National music, local drama, national folk art, oral speaking and children's music, etc., and for the first time accepted the world Chinese works and mainland works, and divided the individual award into "Pop Music" and "Non pop Music".
In order to develop the Golden Melody Awards into an international music activity, the Ninth Golden Melody Awards Regulations were revised, the restrictions on nationality or region of candidates were removed, and bonuses were added. The winners of the Publishing Awards were awarded NT $150000, and the winners of the Individual Awards were awarded NT $100000, making the awards more meaningful.
Over the years, the Golden Melody Award has been more and more recognized and applauded by the recording industry and the public under the strong support and promotion of the competent news department of the Taiwan authorities. From holding three sessions of "Good Songs for All" to encouraging the music market and musicians by soliciting and selecting excellent lyrics and music creation, to setting up awards for male and female singers in the "Golden Bell Award", to the first Golden Melody Award Ceremony, Taiwan's musicians finally had their own music festival.
The Golden Melody Award was organized by the participation of folk groups, and the participation of major record companies and audio publishers made this annual Golden Melody event a concrete demonstration of the importance and encouragement of audio publishing and music creation.
