In 1978, Beijing Petrochemical College was founded in Yanshan. At the same time, it also ran the second branch of Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology and began to enroll undergraduate and junior college students.
In 1985, the school was put under the leadership of Sinopec Corporation.
On December 29, 1987, the foundation of the new school building was laid in Huangcun, Daxing.
In 1990, the school moved from Yanshan to Daxing New Campus as a whole.
November 29, 1992 State Education Commission Approved to establish Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology on the basis of Beijing Petrochemical College.
On February 20, 1993, the inauguration ceremony of Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology was held.
In February 2000, the school was planned to be jointly built by the central government and Beijing Municipality, with Beijing Municipality as the main management.
