The Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology is a full-time ordinary college named after one of the first institutes of clothing in China, which focuses on arts and engineering, and coordinated development of arts, engineering, economics, management and other disciplines. The school was founded in February 1959, formerly known as Beijing Institute of Textile Technology, under the Ministry of Textile Industry.In July 1961, it was renamed as Beijing Chemical Fiber Engineering College.In 1987, it was expanded to Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.1998 byMinistry of Textile IndustryTransferBeijingPrimary management.In April 2017, the Beijing School of Environment and Arts was integrated into the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology as a whole, and the Beijing School of Environment and Arts was abolished.[2]

In 1959, Beijing Institute of Textile Technology was founded. Zhongfangli, Chaoyang District, was a temporary campus with 474 students.[5]
In 1961, the school was renamed as Beijing Chemical Fiber Engineering College, located in Dingfuzhuang, Chaoyang District, with 720 students.
In 1968, Beijing Chemical Fiber Engineering College moved to May 7th Cadre School in Fenyi County, Jiangxi Province during the Cultural Revolution, with 300 students.
In 1978, the school ended its merger and enrolled the first batch of unified examinees.
In 1981, he started postgraduate education.[6]
In 1984, Beijing Chemical Fiber Institute of Technology was reopened with 1120 students, officially becoming the second batch of master's degree awarding units approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.
In 2008, the university was assessed as "excellent" in the undergraduate teaching level by the Ministry of Education.
In 2009, with the approval of the municipal government,Beijing Electronic Technology Vocational CollegeMove to Yizhuang Vocational Education Park to run a school, and transfer the original address of the college to Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.
In 2012, the university was approved as a doctoral talent training project unit serving the special needs of the country.
In September 2015, the school officially established Shaoyaoju Campus.
In December 2016, the university was recognized by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission as one of the first batch of demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in Beijing.[7]

On March 23, 1979, it was officially established with the approval of the relevant departments of the Beijing Municipal Government.The school was originally under the jurisdiction of Beijing Second Light Industry Corporation and was managed by Beijing Leather Company.There are three year TV University classes for electronics majors and two year technical secondary classes for leather chemicals majors after high school.
In May 2000, it was under the jurisdiction of Beijing Municipal Commission of Education.
In June 2009, the school officially changed its name to Beijing School of Environment and Arts.
Consolidation
In April 2017, the Beijing School of Environment and Arts was incorporated into the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology as a whole, and the establishment of the Beijing School of Environment and Arts was cancelled and established in the campus of the Beijing School of Environment and Arts“Beijing Institute of Fashion Arts and Engineering”Beijing School of Environment and Arts was renamed as the Handicraft School affiliated to Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.In April, the university initiated and presided over the establishment of the International Jewelry Design University Alliance.In July, the university was recognized by the Ministry of Education as a typical university with national innovation and entrepreneurship experience and the second batch of demonstration universities to deepen innovation and entrepreneurship education reform.[8-10]
On September 25, 2019, the Institute of Chinese Costume Culture of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology was established.At the end of the year, the Shaoyaoju Campus of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology was officially put into use.[11]

On December 17, 2023, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology participated in the establishment of the national clothing digital, intelligent, industrial and educational integration community.[39]
