The school, formerly known as Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology, was founded in 1958 and is subordinate to the former leaders of the Ministry of Chemical Industry. The goal of the university is to "cultivate advanced chemical talents required by cutting-edge science and technology". In 1960, the university was identified as a national key university. In 1971, it merged with Beijing Institute of Chemical Fiber Engineering to form a new Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology. In 1978, Beijing Chemical Fiber Engineering College was separated from the school. In 1994, the school was renamed Beijing University of Chemical Technology. In 1996, the university entered the ranks of key universities under the national "211 Project". In the same year, Beijing Chemical Industry Management Cadre Institute was incorporated into the university. In 1998, the school was transferred to the Ministry of Education for direct management. Initial stage of school construction

  • Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology
In July 1958, then General Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee Deng Xiaoping Approve in person Peking University Tianjin University Some of the chemistry departments of other universities were merged to form Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology, which was subordinate to the former Ministry of Chemical Industry leader.
