In the Yi language of Wude, the original Qingweng is (weng de), which means a small dam with high mountains and snow. In the Republic of China, it belonged to the Zhengsi District and the 9th District (Xize District), and the southern part belonged to the 8th District (hot water district). In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940 AD), the abandoned area was expanded to Wude Township, and the southern part belonged to the hot water township.
