Liu Xu, born in December 1953 in Dingxian County, Hebei Province, is a plant germplasm resource scientist.[1]
He graduated from the Department of Agriculture of Hebei Agricultural University in 1979, obtained a master's degree in crop genetics and breeding from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 1983, and a doctor's degree in crop genetics and breeding from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 1997.He used to be a member of the Party Leadership Group, Vice President, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and a member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.[1]
He is good at plant cytology, crop genetics, biochemistry and molecular biology. He has been engaged in research on crop germplasm resources for many years, especially on the origin and evolution of common wheat, genetic diversity analysis, and specific DNA sequence cloning. He also has more in-depth research on biodiversity, agricultural science and technology revolution, and agricultural sustainable development.
Liu Xu participated in organizing and leading many studies on collection, conservation, evaluation and utilization of crop germplasm resources in China, background diversity of crop germplasm resources in China, and technical index system and application.Participated in organizing the preparation of the national major project of crop genetic resources and genetic improvement, the research and implementation of the national basic work and the development strategy of the national natural science and technology resources sharing platform.He organized and presided over the publication of 8 volumes of Chinese Crops and Their Wild Relatives and 110 volumes of Technical Specifications for Chinese Crop Germplasm Resources.[1]
