The predecessor of the school is Inner Mongolia Normal University founded in May 1952; In March 1954, Inner Mongolia Normal College merged from Zhangjiakou Normal College and Suiyuan Normal College and was incorporated into Inner Mongolia Normal College; In August 1954, the college moved from Ulanhot to Hohhot; In 1982, the college was renamed "Inner Mongolia Normal University"; In July 2000, Inner Mongolia Institute of Education Incorporation.

History of school running

On May 5, 1952, Inner Mongolia Normal University was founded in the then capital Ulanhot 。

In August 1953, Inner Mongolia Normal College merged from Zhangjiakou Normal College and Suiyuan Normal College and was incorporated into Inner Mongolia Normal College.

On July 6, 1954, the Ministry of Education approved the merger of the former Inner Mongolia Normal University and the former Inner Mongolia Normal College to be called "Inner Mongolia Normal University". The hospital is located in Hohhot, with Mongolian Department and Chinese Department under it. On November 24, the People's Government of the Autonomous Region decided to change Hohhot No.3 Middle School into a secondary school affiliated to Inner Mongolia Normal University.

In 1955, all teachers and students moved to the new campus outside the south gate of the new city.

In 1956, the College set up the correspondence education department, with three majors of Chinese, Mongolian and mathematics.

In 1958, five majors of physics, chemistry, biology, history and geography were added as junior college and undergraduate courses, and Renmin University of China And other famous domestic colleges and universities to jointly pilot postgraduate education.

In 1959, the correspondence department was established.

In 1964, the school set up an affiliated correspondence university, and successively set up correspondence stations in Yakeshi, Tongliao, Chifeng and other places, forming a complete correspondence education system.

In 1971, the school tried to recruit workers, peasants and soldiers.

In 1972, the school fully recruited workers, peasants and soldiers.

In 1976, the school resumed correspondence education.

In 1978, graduate students were officially recruited.

In 1981, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as one of the first units to have the right to confer master's degrees. ^[3]

In 1982, the university was renamed "Inner Mongolia Normal University" and was identified as a key university in the autonomous region.

In 1983, the correspondence university attached to Inner Mongolia Normal University was restored and the cadre training department was established.^[3]

In 1984, the school established the eight character school spirit of "dedication, realism, unity and progress".

In June 2013, the university was shortlisted for the basic capacity construction project of colleges and universities in central and western China.^[4]

In June 2015, the university joined the "Eurasia Pacific University Cooperation Network" (EPU).^[5]

In February 2017, the university was identified as the first pilot university of the "free targeted teacher training program" in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.^[6]

In October 2021, the university was included in the plan of "counterpart support for colleges and universities in the western region" of the Ministry of Education.^[41]

In September 2022, it will become the university mental health education federation of three provinces and one district in northeast China Alliance Member.^[43]
