The predecessor of China University of Mining and Technology was British Fortune (Peking Syndicate Limited) Jiaozuo Road and Mine School Jiaozuo Railway and Mining College is one of the three private colleges and the only private engineering college run by foreigners in the late Qing Dynasty. It is also the first mining college founded in China and has been continuing to this day. It ranks among the first batch of modern universities in China.

1. Jiaozuo Road and Mine School Period
March 1909, Henan Jiaozuo Road and Mine School Establishment.
In December 1913, after the first group of students graduated, the British Welfare Company suspended the Jiaozuo Road and Mine School.
2. During the period of Fuzhong Mining University
In June 1915, the school resumed and was named Fuzhong Mining School. June 5 of each year was designated as the school anniversary.
In February 1919, after holding a special undergraduate course, the school became a special school with both preparatory and undergraduate courses.

3. Jiaozuo Institute of Technology
In April 1931, it was renamed Private Jiaozuo Institute of Technology And became the only private engineering college in China at that time. Counter-Japanese War In the outbreak, the school first moved to Xi'an, Shaanxi, then Tianshui, Gansu, and moved to Chenggu, Shaanxi in 1938.

In March 1950, North China Coal Mine College was incorporated into Jiaozuo Institute of Technology.
4. China Institute of Mining and Technology
In September 1950, the Central People's Government decided to build the first mining institution of higher learning in New China - China Institute of Mining on the basis of Jiaozuo Institute of Technology.
In February 1951, all teachers, students, staff, books, instruments and equipment of Jiaozuo Institute of Technology were moved to Tianjin.

5. Beijing Institute of Mining and Technology

6. Period of Sichuan Institute of Mining and Technology

7. China University of Mining and Technology
In February 1978, the school was again identified as National key universities
In February 1978, with the approval of the State Council, it was rebuilt in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and the name of China Institute of Mining and Technology was restored. In the same year, the Beijing Graduate Department of China Institute of Mining and Technology was established to recruit and train graduate students.
In November 1981, with the approval of the State Council, the university became one of the first batch of doctoral and master degree awarding units in China.
April 1988, after State Education Commission Approved and officially renamed as China University of Mining and Technology, Deng Xiaoping Comrade inscribed the name of the school with his own handwriting.
In July 1997, with the approval of the State Education Commission, the Beijing Graduate Department was changed into the Beijing Campus of China University of Mining and Technology.
In 1998, the Ministry of Coal Industry was abolished and the school was under the administration of the State Coal Industry Bureau. In the same year, Beijing Coal Management Cadre College was incorporated into the school, becoming the "East Campus of Beijing Campus", forming a school running pattern of "one school, two places and three campuses".
In February 2000, it was transferred to the management directly under the Ministry of Education. Later, the East Campus of Beijing Campus was transferred to Beijing Broadcasting Institute.
In October 2009, the 100th anniversary celebration of the founding of the university and China's coal higher education was held. In the same month, the Beijing campus was renamed China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) Xuzhou Headquarters and Beijing Campus have gradually evolved into two mutually independent school running entities.
In April 2010, China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) was rated by the Ministry of Education as "a typical college with employment experience for graduates in China". [3]

In 2012, it was awarded the title of "National Advanced Employment Unit" by the State Council. [1]

In March 2018, the school was selected into the first batch of the Ministry of Education National New Engineering Research and Practice Project [6] On September 22, 2018, China University of Mining and Technology, as the sponsor university, participated in the founding conference of the World Energy University Alliance, the world university cooperation organization in the field of energy. In July 2020, it was selected into the second batch of university national intellectual property information service center construction list; On September 30, he became a member of the University's "Resources and Environment Poverty Alleviation Alliance". In October, it was identified by the State Intellectual Property Office and the Ministry of Education as the national intellectual property demonstration university in 2020. In January 2023, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Emergency Management and the People's Government of Jiangsu Province jointly issued the Opinions of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Emergency Management and the People's Government of Jiangsu Province on Jointly Building China University of Mining and Technology, and decided to jointly build China University of Mining and Technology. [39] On June 20, China University of Mining and Technology and Xinjiang University jointly established the Western Energy Research Institute. [47] On July 23, China's first mining remote sensing satellite, "Kuangda Nanhu", was successfully launched. [52] On December 9, the national network technology+industry education integration community led by China University of Mining and Technology and other three parties was officially established in Wuhu, Anhui Province. March 2024, by Xuzhou National Defense Mobilization Office , Quanshan District National Defense Mobilization Office and China University of Mining and Technology jointly built and managed the Civil Air Defense Propaganda and Education Experience Hall of China University of Mining and Technology Opening.
