On October 15, 1986, the China Radio and Television Society was founded in Beijing. [1]
From March 10 to 12, 1988, the third meeting of the first standing council of China Radio and Television Society was held. [2]
From November 7 to 11, 1992, the second meeting of the second council of the China Radio and Television Society was held in Shanghai. [3]
In 2004, with the approval of the State Administration of Radio and Television and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China, the China Radio and Television Association was officially renamed the China Radio and Television Association. [1]
On January 5, 2006, the fourth executive director meeting of the fourth session of the China Radio and Television Association was held at the Beijing Workers' Home. [4]

Institutional setup

  • The highest authority
The highest authority of the Association is the General Assembly of Members. The functions and powers of the members' congress are:
(1) Formulate and amend the Articles of Association;
(2) Elect and remove directors;
(3) Review the work report and financial report of the Council;
(4) Formulate and revise the membership fee standard;
(5) Decide on renaming and termination;    
(6) Determine the working policies and tasks of the meeting;
(7) Decide on other major issues.
The general meeting of member representatives can be convened only when more than 2/3 of the members' representatives are present, and its resolution can take effect only after being approved by more than half of the members' representatives present.
The General Assembly of Member Representatives is held for 5 years. If the term of office needs to be changed in advance or postponed due to special circumstances, it must be voted by the Council, reported to the competent business unit for review and approved by the society registration authority. The extension of the term of office shall not exceed 1 year. [11]
  • Actuator
The Council is the executive body of the General Assembly of Members, leading the General Assembly to carry out its daily work during the intersessional period, and is responsible for the General Assembly of Members. The term of office of the Board of Directors is the same as that of the General Assembly of Members, and the term of office is changed at the same time as that of the General Assembly of Members.
The functions and powers of the Council are:
(1) Implement the resolutions of the General Assembly of Members and formulate annual work plans;
(2) Elect and remove the President, Vice President, Secretary General and Executive Directors;
When the General Assembly of Members is not in session, according to the authorization of the General Assembly of Members, some directors shall be added or removed during the session, and the maximum number shall not exceed 1/5 of the total number of directors;
(3) To prepare for the convening of the General Assembly of Member Representatives;
(4) Report work and financial status to the member congress;
(5) To decide on the admission or expulsion of members;
(6) To decide on the establishment, change and termination of offices, branches, representative offices and entities;
(7) To decide on the appointment of the Deputy Secretary General and the principal heads of each institution;
(8) To lead the work of all institutions of the association;
(9) Develop internal management system;
(10) Determine the establishment and candidates of consultants or honorary positions;
(11) Decide on other major issues.
The board of directors can be convened only when more than 2/3 of the directors are present, and its resolution can take effect only when more than 2/3 of the directors present vote.
The Council shall meet at least once a year. In special circumstances, it can also be held in the form of communication.
The Association shall establish a standing council. The Standing Council shall be elected by the Council, and the number of members shall not exceed 1/3 of the number of members. When the Council is not in session, it shall exercise the functions and powers specified in Item 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 of Article 18, and be responsible to the Council. The term of office of the Standing Council is the same as that of the Council, and the term of office of the Standing Council is changed at the same time as that of the General Assembly.
The executive council can be convened only when more than 2/3 of the executive directors are present, and its resolution can take effect only after more than 2/3 of the executive directors present vote.
The Standing Council shall hold at least one meeting every six months. In special circumstances, it can also be held in the form of communication. [11]

According to the official website of the Federation in May 2023, the members of the China Federation of Radio and Television Social Organizations include CCTV China Education Television , local radio and television stations and other radio and television broadcasting institutions, production institutions and transmission institutions, Communication University of China Zhejiang Media College And other colleges and universities, as well as more than 2000 units including 14 national radio and television first level associations (academies) and provincial radio and television associations (academies) under the jurisdiction of the State Administration of Radio and Television.   • Withdrawal instructions
A member who withdraws from the association shall notify the association in writing and return the membership card. If a member does not pay the membership fee or participate in the activities of the club for two years, it will be deemed as automatic withdrawal.
If a member seriously violates the Articles of Association, he/she shall be expelled after being voted by the Council or the Standing Council. [11]
