bright Dongshi Port is the anchorage for Chinese and foreign private ships. The ports were prosperous in the Qing Dynasty. In the 24th year of Guangxu (1898), there were small fire boats sailing between Dongshi and Xiamen, with more than 10 large and small boats. There are proverbs that "Anhai is a good business, Dongshi is a good ship" and "Dongshi ship transports Anhai goods". During the Republic of China, it became one of the ports for navigation with Taiwan and for the entry and exit of overseas Chinese.
In December 1979, Fujian Provincial People's Government Dongshi Port is approved as the starting point of export materials for foreign trade. In 1982, the harbor basin and harbor road were dredged to enable cargo ships to directly dock at the barge for loading and unloading. From 1984 to 1985, 200 ton freighters used to sail directly to Hong Kong. After the construction of a 300 ton wharf in 1985, the throughput increased rapidly. In 1990, the throughput was 230000 tons (including the throughput of ports in Jinjiang County and Shishi City).
Dongshi Port is a transit port for grain transferred from Quanzhou.
