school badge

school badge [15]
1. The word "application" in the school emblem center clarifies the school's idea of running a school, which not only represents the way of learning and being a person that inherits the pre Qin scholars' "using everything to make use of it" (Part I of the Book of Changes: "using everything to make use of it, building a device for the benefit of the world, which is the greatest of sages."), but also reflects the essence of the Chinese culture of "managing the world" and "using clearly", and reflects the school's "application of technology" The tradition of running a school for the first time and the university spirit of "forging knowledge and practice, being virtuous and skilled" formed in the long history of running a school.
2. The word "application" is close to the inner circle, meaning to stand upright. It is emphasized that the school's teaching and scientific research work should not only do a good job in "metaphysics", strive to cultivate high-level application technology talents, and strive to reach the forefront of the world, but also "stand on the ground" and consolidate "form to bottom", based on the needs of industry enterprises, and fulfill the social responsibility of serving the national and regional economic and social development.
3. The middle three strokes of the word "shall" are translated into English "SIT", which is the abbreviation of the English name of the school. The word "yong" has three vertical and three horizontal lines, which forms the word "yong" as a whole. It represents that the school originated from Shanghai Metallurgy College, Shanghai Light Industry College and Shanghai Chemical Industry College, and has a long history of running schools, highlighting the spiritual core of blending and pursuing dreams after the merger of the three schools.
4. The outline of the school emblem is composed of two concentric circles, which means that the school is harmonious, accessible, and all teachers and students are one heart and one mind. The handwritten "Shanghai University of Applied Technology" above the outer circle is the Chinese name of the school, which is inscribed by Mr. Xu Kuangdi. The English part below is the full name of the school in English. The whole logo of the school logo takes green as the background, adopts the dark green and black color matching genes of the original logo of Shanghai Institute of Applied Technology, highlights the characteristics of the school's engineering colleges, indicates that the school inherits and innovates, inherits the past and ushers in the future, prospers, and strives to build a high-level applied technology university with international influence.
5. The central part of the school emblem presents the shape of "tripod", which is simple and solemn, implying that the school gathers all forces and seeks common development. The logo of the school logo, as a whole, is a round sky and a place, which reflects the perfect combination of hardness and softness. It means that the school not only inherits the fine tradition, but also keeps pace with the times, develops and innovates, and is bound to accumulate rich experience and become the first-class. [58]

School motto

To be clear about morality, learning and affairs
"Ming" is a verb here, which means "clear, understand, know, understand", and is extended to "learn" (through learning).
"Virtue" means that through education, students can learn how to behave and how to be virtuous. The Confucian classic "The Great Learning" opens with a clear meaning: "The way of learning is to be virtuous, to be friendly to the people, and to be good." Focusing on moral cultivation, honesty and trustworthiness is the passport of modern society, and noble morality is the first goal to be achieved.
"Mingxue" means that students can learn how to study through education. "Mingxue" emphasizes more on the pursuit of learning, emphasizing that students should master the methods of doing learning, and that learning should be applied.
"Know what to do" means that through education, students can learn how to do things. Chinese traditional culture regards "knowing how to do things" as a positive evaluation of people. "A gentleman is quick at things and cautious in words." (The Analects of Confucius · Xueer). It is in line with the orientation of the university to cultivate high-level applied technical talents. [11]

Community culture

Shanghai Institute of Applied Technology attaches great importance to the construction of campus culture, aiming to put the motto of "morality, learning and practice" into practice, and cultivate students' sound personality. The diversified academic lectures, colorful cultural festivals, vigorous campus events, and blooming student associations make the campus full of rich humanistic atmosphere and highlight the vitality of youth. [59]
Freshmen Festival, host contest, foreign language festival, campus debate contest, campus culture and art festival, community culture festival, etc. run through the school year, forming a campus cultural atmosphere with many climaxes. The university has a college student art troupe, which consists of a choir, dance troupe, orchestra and drama troupe, providing students with more professional learning opportunities and a broader platform for art exchange. The scale of campus art groups is also growing. For example, the five-star association "Dongba District Art Studio" of the university has hosted the cutting-edge art exhibition "Flowing Away" at the Korean Consulate Cultural Institute, which has gradually made students' works more widely displayed and more professionally recognized from the initial stage in the school to the society. Crazy Drama Club, Humble Gold Club, Zilan Literature Club, etc. also have their own activities, which add beauty to the campus culture. [59]
Sports competition is also an important part of campus cultural activities. The annual school sports meeting, campus basketball games, football games and other campus sports events hosted by the physical education group also cultivate the team spirit of students, add vitality to college life, and promote the healthy development of physical education in our school. [59]
The association held a series of activities. For example, in order to celebrate the 58th anniversary of the founding of our school and activate the cultural atmosphere of the campus, the Youth League Committee and the Association Federation of the University, together with other associations, made great efforts to create the 2012 "Most Dazzling Association Style and Dragon Celebration" - the third "Association Carnival" activity. The robot enthusiasts association's live version of the body feeling fruit ninja and robot interaction FOLLOW, the creative competition battery of the Green Future Alliance, the real-time sharing of Lipa photos and matchmaking activities of the Empowerful Photography Club, the interesting video post demonstration of the Film and Television Creative Club, the ink splashing of the Wenbo Calligraphy and Painting Club, the dart adventure of the Tennis Club, Clothes magic cross dressing show of Costume Culture Club and Enjoy magic Association, and rhythmic popping of DZONE Dance Club. Fengxian Campus is located at 120 Caobao Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, 200235.
The main campus gate of Xuhui Campus of Shanghai University of Applied Technology consists of a single campus gate and two small buildings in the east and west of the campus. The embedded door lamp is set on the front of the gate pier, that is, on the middle and upper part of the south column body, and a structure like hoop head brace is added below the door lamp to bear the upper protruding support plate, and the upper part is added with a shield plate like a slope roof. The base is a simplified version of the Qing style Xumizuo. From top to bottom, it is generally composed of upper brace, upper owl, waist girdle, lower owl and lower brace, without carving. The guard room, mail room and four gate piers in the school gate form a group of buildings. Take the building on the east side as an example. It faces the west from the east and rests on the top of the mountain. The facade is unified with the main building of the campus in three longitudinal sections. The upper section is a Xieshan roof, the middle section is a plain brick wall exterior wall, and the lower section is composed of plinth and apron slope, and the base is decorated with cement paint. The roof of the upper section adopts the modern structure to replace the wood method. The owls at both ends of the main ridge are simplified, and there is no ridge beast at the end of the berm. Completed in 1955, it was listed in the fifth batch of excellent historical buildings in Shanghai in August 2015. [61]
