For left behind children, the summer vacation every year seems to be particularly long, with parents away and no teaching activities in the school. In order to fill the gap of children's summer vacation, a group of college students in Bozhou, Anhui went to the countryside to help rural education with practical actions by organizing courses and visiting families of left behind children.

Carry out quality education

On July 9, the Spring Bamboo Volunteer Team of Bozhou University went to Gaoyao Primary School in Sanyi Town, Mengcheng County to carry out social practice activities. During the 11 day volunteer service, the Spring Bamboo Volunteer Team organized and carried out activities such as Spring Bamboo Cloud Class, visiting left behind children's families, party history and national conditions education, and characteristic industry research. Jia Yanan, the team instructor, told the People's Daily Online Anhui Channel that there were 8 volunteers who went to Gaoyao Primary School this time, all of whom were students from the education department of Bozhou University.

Basic education in rural areas is relatively weak, and left behind children are often difficult to access courses other than Chinese and mathematics in primary school. In order to make up for the shortcomings of left behind children in knowledge learning, in this practice, the team not only carried out basic English knowledge courses for children, but also carried out characteristic courses such as Chinese classics, thinking training, sunshine sports, arts and crafts, rhythmic exercises, art performances, and so on, which were welcomed by local left behind children.

In addition to offline teaching, the Spring Bamboo volunteer team uses the social platform to broadcast some teaching activities online. Jia Yanan introduced that the Spring Bamboo Shoot Volunteer Team has been focusing on the development and changes of the most basic level education in northern Anhui for three years since its establishment. She believed that with the help of the live broadcast platform, village primary schools have the opportunity to gain social attention, help and support from enterprises or social organizations. "We want to create a supporting education project that does not need government funding. Through live broadcast, enterprises can learn more or less about the characteristic industries in the village while paying attention to the village primary schools. When the enterprise and the village establish cooperation, and the village characteristic industries develop, the teacher resources and education level of the village primary schools will certainly be developed," said Jia Yanan.

Care for left behind children and realize "cloud care"

There are more than 8000 children in school in Sanyi Town, Mengcheng County, of which more than 70% are left behind children in rural areas. The proportion of left behind children in some village primary schools reached 90%. Spring Bamboo volunteer team visited the families of left behind children in Gaoyao Primary School to understand the actual situation of the families. In addition to sending schoolbags, stationery and other supplies to the children, they also let parents in different places see their children's education and life on campus in real time through the We Media platform, and through cross space and time exchanges and communication, to achieve "cloud care".

Jia Yanan introduced that even in rural areas, online teaching electronic equipment will be distributed to students at the primary school level. However, because there are few people who can operate these devices, most of the time they are also semi idle.

This time, the volunteer team came to Gaoyao Primary School to teach everyone to use online teaching electronic equipment as an important link. Jia Yanan said: "According to our previous experience, when the volunteer left after the end of the volunteer teaching activities, the children will return to their previous learning state. We hope that after we go back, students can also use these devices to answer questions online when they encounter problems."
