I rub WIFI in the countryside -- use the old router wireless relay to rub the network

This year is probably the longest year that I have stayed in my hometown in rural areas for the Spring Festival since I worked. Because my hometown in rural areas usually comes back after the Spring Festival, and there is almost no one at home at ordinary times, the broadband at home has long been cut off. In my rural area, there was only telecom broadband before, and I still used telephone lines to access ADSL dial-up Internet. The price is expensive. It costs 1000 yuan a year, and only has 4M bandwidth. In my impression, the telecom optical reform is only 16 years old. My family also turned off broadband since that year. After all, no one was at home. Until last year, the family had broadband of radio and television (which was exported by China Unicom, it was said that it was OK), and the bundling sales with digital TV of radio and television also cost 560 a year, so they didn't do it.

I've stayed in my hometown for too long this year, and I can't support the traffic. The broadband of radio and television that was just handled by a friend's home this year was indeed the exit of China Unicom. Tracert saw that the number of public network hops was a little high. However, after the test, it was enough to see the video, so the idea of rubbing the net came into being.

In the balcony on the second floor of the home, although the signal is not very good, the mobile phone can still be directly connected to his WiFi.

Using Speedtest to measure speed, the speed is OK, and the download speed can reach 20Mbps, which is enough for me to scan station B.

So I pulled out a router at the bottom of the pressure box and put it at the window sill.

Then you can set the router and enter the router's web console.

Different routers are set in different ways, so we won't discuss it here.
To put it simply, first find the wireless bridge option of the router and select WISP bridge. Then select the hotspot you want to wipe, enter the password and click OK to save the settings. The following is the setting interface of my Tengda router.

It is recommended to use the WISP mode for trunking and networking, because this mode is the simplest to set. It is also convenient for later configuration changes. The differences between several relay modes are as follows:

WISP: The router connects to the upper router through wireless. The router itself is a layer of NAT, which is equivalent to that the upper router is the router's external network. At this time, the secondary SSID is in wireless AP mode, providing wireless client connection.

Client+AP: The router connects to the next level of router through wireless. At this time, the SSID is in wireless AP mode, providing wireless client connection. The router itself does not do NAT and directly forwards the secondary SSID data. It is equivalent to a network bridge. The routing DHCP server will be shut down, and the DHCP service will be provided by the superior router.

WDS: Wireless bridge mode, but I am confused. Anyway, it is not easy to use

Check the router status page. If you can get the IP address, you can access the Internet by connecting to the router's LAN port or secondary SSID.

The LAN port of the laptop connected to the router uses Speedtest to measure the speed. The speed is very fast and can be downloaded to more than 30Mps. It is much faster than the direct connection of mobile phones.

However, the secondary SSID discovery experience of using the mobile phone to connect to the router is very poor. The speed is extremely unstable, and even packet loss occurs. The Speedtest test shows that the speed is not up to scratch. It is much slower than using the network cable to connect the router LAN port for speed measurement. And the more connected clients, the slower.

[Pretend to be a picture: the router connected by the mobile phone is slow. jpg]

If you think about it carefully, the wireless itself is half duplex, and the bandwidth of the relay will be halved theoretically. Then check the relevant data, and it is sure that the wireless relay will reduce the bandwidth by half. The principle of this will not be explained for a while.

My goal of surfing the Internet is to stay in bed, hold my mobile phone, and brush Station B. This speed certainly cannot meet my needs, and I am not the only person who needs to connect this router to the Internet, but also my parents and elder sister. After a few more clients are connected, the router is not only slow, but also can't be used because of its old age and urgent performance.

After thinking about it, I decided to hide the secondary SSID of the router used for network surfing, and then take another router to turn off DHCP and connect it to the LAN port for AP use. So I found another router at the bottom of the box (emmm~~there seems to be a lot of old routers in my hometown)

Yes, you are right. This is a 4G router. I still remember that this was the year of the reform of the Communist Party of China. My telephone line was out of order (in fact, the office equipment of the village telecom couldn't support it, and there were too many loads (users)). Dialing was often impossible, or the traffic would be cut off if it was slightly larger. But at that time, it was already in the process of light modification, and the telephone line was no longer maintained (in fact, the installation and maintenance personnel were lazy, so if I complained, they would still have to deal with me). So the people of Telecom gave me this device at that time. I don't know what the ghost of that card is. This device is TDD-LTE, but the TDD of Telecom seems to be used for IoT devices (is there a big man who works in communication to explain it)? In addition, my 4G phone is supposed to be FDD frequency band after checking. It seems that there is something here

Although it is a 4G router, this does not prevent me from using it as an AP.

After setting the WIFI of this 4G router, turn off the DHCP service of this router, and then use the network cable to connect the LAN port of the router used for network rubbing with the LAN port of this router. In this way, it can be used as a wireless AP.

Connect to new hotspots and use Speedtest to measure speed. It can basically reach more than 20Mbps. When I measure speed, my family's mobile phone is connected to this 4G router. Considering that this router is so old. Its wireless performance is also limited, and it is very satisfactory to reach this speed.

It should be noted that when setting up WIFI as an AP router, you need to avoid the channel of the WiFi you want to relay. Avoid interference. However, the WIFI channel of the router you use is generally "Atuo", so you may need to set the AP channel frequently.

However, since my WiFi is my friend's, I can set a fixed channel directly after checking the channel.

It may all start with a bat
