The process of making ttf font file

The following is a brief explanation of TTF typeface The design process, interested friends can also try

1、 Draft. This step is completed on paper with a black marker. This step must have a clear idea. When designing fonts, there must be a goal, that is, the desired style, and where fonts are suitable for application. It must be clear that English fonts must have some understanding and insights. Only with a clear idea can the font style be formulated.

It is recommended to study the classic fonts with regular fonts such as Arial, Batang, Impact, Vrinda, Tahoma, and Times New Roman before starting.

The elements to be designed for English fonts include 26 capital English letters, 26 smaller English letters, 10 numbers, and commonly used symbols and punctuation marks. (as follows)

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

0123456789

, . : ; ( ) [ ] < > < > / \ | @ & $ % ÷ + & - * = _ ` ~ ^ ' " ! ? ® © ™

2、 Organize drafts. I draw a reference line on A4 paper, and then draw the font on the draft one by one. As shown in the figure.

3、 Sort fonts into your computer. PS and CD can be used for any software. I'm used to PS pen, so I use PS, but I suggest using vector software. As for why, I won't say. There are many problems to pay attention to in this step. Because it involves the final effect of the font, a lot of guides should be used. According to the style of the font, I made two kinds of reference lines, hard reference line and soft reference line. See the figure below.

In the process of input, I modified the font to a certain extent, especially the size and relative position of lowercase letters and several symbols.

It should be noted that the relative position and absolute position of the font must be grasped. These should be thought out in advance, otherwise it will be a mess, and many contradictory problems will appear, which will be more difficult to solve. When entering, you should compare the relative position, relative height, absolute height and width of the font. According to the above points, classify and compare the same.

Since each font has its own characteristics, no examples will be given. Sometimes you need to stack fonts together for comparison.

All strokes constituting the font are listed separately. For example, in this font, the vertical strokes of BDHIK and other fonts are the same. It is convenient and more standard.

The final effect of the entry is shown in the figure.

4、 Make TTF. If you want to do TTF, you need a software called Font Creator, version 5.0. At present, there is no Chinese version or tutorial.

This step took 80% of the time for font design.

5、 The preliminary work of font coding. I use a more convenient method, using the slicing function in PS to export characters as separate pictures. Then name the individual pictures according to the characters: A, a, B, b, C, c. Note that the resolution of the exported pictures should be higher. Slice accurately. As shown in the figure.
