Installation and configuration process of iRedMail free mail server in CentOS 6 environment

I see that many VPS users are not used to build websites, but to create email servers to send emails. So Lao Zuo also comes to learn applications of these functions. Learning and using to build an email server must first use the free and open source iRedMail Software. IRedMail can quickly deploy mail server solutions in Red Hat, CentOS, SDebian, Ubuntu and other environmental systems. In this article, Lao Zuo shared the process of his successful construction in Centos 6 32-bit system.

First, update the system installation package

yum update

Before preparing for installation, you must update the system installation package, because if you do not handle this problem, it will appear later“ Installation failed, please check the terminal output "Installation error.

Second, modify the current VPS hostname HOSTNAME

Generally, we use VPS to check that the general hostname is not the root domain name we need to set through "hostname - f".

A - Edit the/etc/sysconfig/network file and set the hostname to the email domain name mail.laozuo.org that we need to create

B - Edit the/etc/hosts file and add 127.0.0.1 mail.laozuo.org mail localhost.localdomain localhost script to the top. Note that the script is modified to our own hostname.

After restarting the VPS, use "hostname - f" to check that the current hostname has changed to what we need.

Third, resolve the domain name

We need to set A record and MX record resolution in the DNS resolution of domain names. Lao Zuo uses DNSPOD to do the domain name post office, and the settings here are as follows:

This is only the resolution of our domain name, A record and MX record, which are dedicated to the post office.

Fourth, download and install iRedMail

cd /root/

wgethttp://www.iredmail.com/iRedMail-0.8.7.tar.bz2
tar xjf iRedMail-0.8.7.tar.bz2
cd iRedMail-0.8.7
bash iRedMail.sh

Enter the above download and installation steps, and then the installation will be automatically carried out. Note that the downloaded installation package will not have random strings. If we manually modify the SFTP, then decompress and install it.

The installation process was smooth, and no errors occurred. We just need to wait and see the settings in the next step.

Fifth, iRedMail installation process and settings

A - Welcome interface of installation start

Enter or click YES to start the installation. And the default carriage return when you see the/var/vmail installation path.

B - Select Database

Here I choose the MYSQL database as the data storage.

C - Set MYSQL database password

D - Set domain name

The domain name and host name set here cannot be the same.

E - Set Webmail and iRedAdmin administrator passwords

F - Select the integration components needed for iRedMail

Then we can directly enter y and install it.

Sixth, wait for the successful installation of iRedMail

Need to insert a section to set firewall and database configuration

After setting n and y, press Enter to continue the installation. When you see this interface, the installation is complete.

We can see the installation is completed and the login portal. By default, https login is required. We can either set SSL certificate login or set $config ['force_https']=true in the/var/www/roundcubemail/config/config.inc.php file; The parameter is changed to false before restarting.

In this way, iRedMail has been installed, and Laozuo will add a specific application instance later.
