Today, a friend cannot access SSH remote when logging into Tencent ECS. In fact, he should not have noticed that the user name of the administrator of the Ubuntu system of Tencent ECS is given to ubuntu by default, and the password is set by him, not our common root user, so he thought it was a password error. We can access through the ubuntu user, and then delegate to the root through sudo to manage the highest authority.
First, about the default administrator user
Generally speaking, the default administrator of our ECS is the root user, with some exceptions. For example, the above mentioned Tencent ECS is the ubuntu user name, which needs to be used
sudo
You can only manage by switching to the root user. In fact, many of our ECS operations and maintenance do the same thing, so that we can control the security permissions of the server and prevent files from being deleted by multiple people when managing the server.
Second, the initial password of Ubuntu Root
The initial Ubuntu root password was set when we installed the server ourselves. Some servers are automatically generated for us. Of course, there are similar DO service providers. We need to reset the password to log in to SSH for the first time after the initial setup and installation of the system. These are for the security of the server.
Third, how to modify the root password
Changing the root password is simple. We can change the password on the service provider panel. Or modify in SSH remote command
passwd
You can see the prompt to change the password. Just enter it twice.
