VMware Workstation Player. Many of our friends should be familiar with an excellent local virtual machine software client. We can use it to create and run our own virtual machines, and evaluate the software distributed as virtual devices by many software vendors from the VMware solution switching center. VMware Workstation Player is not free, but it is free for individuals and non-commercial users, so we can use it locally. Here we introduce the operation process of installing VMware Workstation Player virtual machine in Ubuntu 20.04.

1. Install required packages
Open the terminal update package list and run the following command to install and build the required:
sudo apt update sudo apt install build-essential sudo apt install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
2. Download VMware Workstation Player
To download the latest version of VMware Workstation Player, you can visit the VMware download page and download the installation package using a web browser, or use the following wget command:
wget https://www.vmware.com/go/getplayer-linux
After the download is complete, make the installation file executable:
chmod +x getplayer-linux
3. Install VMware Workstation Player
The installation process is seamless, just follow the instructions on the screen.
Type the following command to start the installation wizard:
sudo ./ getplayer-linux
A screen similar to the following will be displayed. Accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click the Next button.
Next, you will be asked if you want to check for product updates at startup. Make your selections, and then click the Next button. VMware's Customer Experience Improvement Program ("CEIP") helps VMware improve its products and services by sending anonymous system data and usage information to VMware. If you do not want to participate in the program, select No, and then click the Next button.
Here, you will be prompted to enter the license key. VMware Workstation Player is free for personal, non-commercial use. Buying a license key will make Pro features commercially available. If you do not have a license key, leave this field blank, and then click the Next button. Next, you will see the following page to notify you that you are ready to install VMware Workstation Player.
The installation may take several minutes. During the installation process, you will see information about the progress. When finished, the following screen will be displayed to inform you that Mware Workstation Player has been successfully installed.
4. Launch VMware Workstation Player
Now that VMware Workstation Player is installed on Debian system, you can start it by clicking the VMware Player icon (Activities –>VMware Workstation Player). When we launch VMware Player for the first time, the following window will appear, asking whether you want to use VMware Workstation Player for personal non-commercial use or enter a license for free. Make a selection and click OK to start the VMware Player application.
