Huolala uses container service Kubernetes version (ACK for short) to build stable and low-cost infrastructure, laying a solid foundation for comprehensive cloud native transformation.

Customer introduction

Founded in 2013 and growing up in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, Huolala is an Internet logistics mall engaged in intra city/inter city freight, enterprise logistics services, moving, less than carload, car rental and sales, and after car market services.

Business challenges

Poor stability of self built clusters : There are a large number of micro service systems running inside the freight chain, which are complex and require high stability of Kubernetes. Self construction is prone to stability problems and high operation and maintenance costs.

IT cost governance is difficult : IT cost governance often needs to expand Kubernetes. Container based capability building requires customization and development of some core capabilities, such as the expansion of schedulers, monitoring data links, etc. Self built capabilities are difficult to promote these extensions.

No backup disaster recovery for core system : Due to the complex application architecture, many systems are not unitary, and it is difficult to build the core system disaster recovery backup system.

Based on Alibaba Cloud container service Kubernetes, Huolala has transformed and migrated most applications into containers. ACK provides a highly reliable and stable infrastructure, which is integrated with bare metal instances and load balancing, greatly simplifying the complexity of using the cloud.

Provide multiple tools to optimize cost governance

ACK helps users directly access physical properties when using bare metal instances. At the same time, through ACK differentiated SLO koordinator container scheduling, we can perform cpuset scheduling, binding core and load aware scheduling, which effectively improves application performance and node resource utilization. The freight pulling business has obvious characteristics of peaks and troughs. The intra city freight traffic is relatively stable in the daytime peak period, and the flow will decrease in the evening low peak period. Users can expand and shrink the capacity regularly through HPA and CronHPA to meet such predictable elastic scenarios. In combination with the monitoring data link provided by ACK, the freight forwarder has realized the measurement and billing of the container cost, and effectively managed the cloud cost of each team.

Remote backup of core system

Through the ACK backup center, the remote backup of the core system running in ACK is realized, and cross region image synchronization is realized through the container image service Enterprise Edition (ACR EE).
