Disassembly of Bull 65W GaN Charger
After seeing the unpacking and testing of Bull's Gallium Nitride Charger, we will take a look at the internal materials and design.
First, disassemble the charger shell along the shell seam, and connect the folding pin with the spring through the wire.
The PCBA module is filled with glue as a whole to improve the weather resistance, heat dissipation and mechanical strength of the charger.

Clean up the potting glue, weld three small plates on the front of the PCBA module, respectively weld the input filter capacitor, USB-C mother seat and USB-A mother seat. The left side of the PCBA module is welded with a high-voltage filter capacitor, the middle is a transformer, and the right side is a small interface board, where components such as the mother seat and filter capacitor are welded.
The back is welded with the main control chip of the switching power supply, the GaN switch tube, the feedback optocoupler and the SMD Y capacitor.
The left small plate is welded with rectifier bridge and filter capacitor, and the right small plate is welded with synchronous voltage rise and fall circuit for USB-A interface output.
Through the observation of PCBA module, it is found that Bull's GaN charger adopts QR switching power supply design, with wide voltage range output, the output voltage is controlled by the protocol chip, USB-C interface output is achieved through optocoupler feedback, and USB-A interface achieves fast charging output through voltage rise and drop circuit. Now let's start from the input end to understand the information of each component.
List of charger input terminals, welding fuse, NTC surge suppression resistor, common mode inductance, safety X2 capacitor and high-voltage filter capacitor.
The fuse is from Huade Electronics, with the specification of 3.15A 250V.
The black NTC surge suppression resistor is used to suppress the power on surge current.
Common mode inductance is wound with insulated wire and enameled wire, and insulated support is welded at the bottom.
The safety gauge X2 capacitor is from STE Matata Electronics, and the specification is 0.1 μ F。
High voltage filter capacitor and differential mode inductance are welded on the small side plate.
The other side is welded with two rectifier bridges, high-voltage startup and X2 capacitor discharge circuit.
Two rectifier bridges from Yangjie Electronics, model YBS3010, specification 3A 1000V, are connected by two half bridges to generate heat evenly.
One of the high-voltage filter capacitors is from emerald, and the specification is 400V 39 μ F。
The differential inductance is insulated by tape winding.
The other high-voltage filter capacitor has the same specification.
There is also a filter capacitor from JSH Wanjingyuan, with the specification of 400V 27 μ F. The total capacity of filter capacitor is 105 μ F。
The primary main control chip is JW1515HA, which is a high frequency QR GaN controller. It works in the quasi resonant mode. It is packaged with SSOP10, and its frequency is limited to 170kHz. The chip uses negative pressure current sampling, has accurate 6V driving voltage, and can directly drive GaN devices. It supports 7.5-90V wide voltage power supply, and can meet wide voltage output without external voltage stabilization and the second auxiliary power supply winding, effectively saving space.

The switch tube, INN650D150A, is a 650V GaN high-voltage single tube from Innosec, with a transient withstand voltage of 750V and a conductivity of 150m Ω. It is packaged with DFN8 * 8. The synchronous rectification controller is from Jewart, silk screen JWEWJ, model JW7726B, which supports CCM, DCM, QR and ACF modes, and can effectively prevent the wrong opening of synchronous rectification MOSFET during ringing; It shall have quick shutdown capability to be compatible with CCM; It can effectively prevent the gate gate from being coupled to the opening voltage during the startup process (before the VCC is established), support the high side and low side synchronous rectification applications, and be flexible in use.
The JW7726B has low static current, and the output voltage detection function is used for automatic switching power supply. When the output voltage is higher than 4.6V, it is powered by the output voltage to reduce the loss on the voltage regulator. When the output voltage is lower than 4.5V, the power is supplied by the switch pin. JW7726B adopts SOT23-6 packaging, and peripheral devices are simplified.

SW2303 integrates CV/CC control loop, Type-C interface logic, fast charging protocol controller, and various safety protection functions. Cooperate with AC-DC or DC-DC and a few peripheral components to form a complete high-performance Type-C/Type-A fast charging solution.
SW2303 also supports I2C interface, internal integrated discharge function, NMOS/PMOS VBUS switch tube, and dynamic power distribution to meet the use of multi port charger. The chip supports external NTC for overheating protection to achieve comprehensive protection functions.
Zhirong Technology, an intelligent overcharge protection chip, automatically closes the output path after detecting that the device is pulled out or full, and automatically opens the output path when the device is reconnected, which can effectively ensure that the device is full and prevent overcharge.
