Keep exploring, long live curiosity!

2018-06-01

June 1, International Children's Day. This is my 17th Children's Day. For me, this may be the penultimate Children's Day before I became an adult. Obviously, I am no longer the pure and lovely me, but I wonder why I am not, what changes have taken place, and what I have gained or lost. In order to commemorate my childhood and the youth that is going to die, and as the beginning of this series, provide a direction for future exploration. Here, I write this article.

This article is migrated from the old blog. The original link is https://lookas2001.com/keep-curious-explore-endlessly/

This is the first part of the look as 2001 writing plan and part of the look as 2001 series of attempts.

In the series of lookas2001 attempts, I will understand and learn all kinds of abilities that I have not or dare not try before, try my best to broaden my knowledge, exercise my cognitive ability, and make some small but also possibly great changes for this huge world.

First of all, to answer the question at the beginning, I think the biggest change is that I have lost the curiosity I have always been proud of. Yes, nothing else. Although I know that the world is still large, slowly, I am more and more lazy to explore the world, and I am no longer willing to step out of my comfort zone. The increasingly solidified study and life, facing the computer day after day, and the troublesome social interaction, make me feel more and more boring. Because of this, my time is getting faster and faster. Time passes in a trance. This is like a zombie who can walk upright. Life without curiosity will become boring and crazy. Oh, my God, this is really a terrible thing.

If the development of things is due to human wisdom, then human wisdom is due to curiosity. As early as the 19th century, there was a saying in the Marxist philosophy created by Marx: "The internal contradictions of things are the source and power of things' development." Now it still has a very strong reference significance, because people do not know what they do not know, they go to explore. As a new force in world development, curiosity is always the most important. If it is necessary to rank human abilities, curiosity can definitely be ranked in the first batch. As Wikipedia said: "Curiosity is highly related to the development of human beings at all levels. Curiosity can trigger the process of learning and the desire to understand knowledge and skills." She strongly promotes the development of human beings, which cannot be separated from curiosity.

We are familiar with all the masters who have made great contributions to the cause of human science in nature and the humanities. They are all curious. Take MIT, a world famous school, for example. The children here love pranks. The school even created a prank museum for their pranks, which makes us unable to understand the prank culture for those who have been taught to be a good baby all the year round. But at the same time, we should think that these kids who make pranks want to make an eye-catching, The creative mischief has hollowed out many minds, which is the driving force provided by curiosity. The result of these people's growth into adults is to provide unremitting impetus for the continuous prosperity of the United States, making the United States still the most powerful country in the world.

Like dead wood and hard stone, a person's loss of curiosity means that he has lost the ability to explore and change himself and the world. A country or nation's loss of curiosity is more likely to be a sign of a country's regime change or a nation's decline. In history, there are so many generals who have suffered losses because of their solidified thinking. How many countries have failed to survive for several years because they did not consider new ideas. Now, how many people in society have lost their ability to explore, and have done nothing. They have moved bricks for half a lifetime, and at the end of their lives, they can't afford to regret.

At the end, I wish everyone can keep their instinct of exploring the world, keep curiosity, and never give up the efforts to change the world. Of course, I also hope that the readers who can read here will always reflect on whether they have stopped the pace of discovery, whether they are content with the status quo and unwilling to change, and whether they have given up their ability to think.

Happy Children's Day!

Long live curiosity!
