This is an anime made by Katsumoto. When I saw it, my roommate caught a glimpse of it and asked me if it was Hayao Miyazaki's work. I found that the style of this anime was really like Hayao Miyazaki.

It turned out that Katsunomichi was Miyazaki's lover.

The theme of the whole film is anti war, but there is no positive description of the war. Everything seems to be plain. The main character Xiaoling is ordinary and ignorant. As she said, she is "always in a daze". Her parents also said that she is dull. She is such a silly little girl who doesn't know much about the world.

Xiaoling and Zhou Zuo are also enviable. They met at the beginning of the film. Zhou Zuo came to propose marriage with his father after only meeting him once. Although the family said they could refuse if they didn't want to, Xiaoling still went. I can feel Xiaoling's feelings towards her primary school classmate Shuiyuan Zhe are complex. Shuiyuan Zhe landed at Xiaoling's house that night, but Zhou Zuo locked the door and let Xiaoling chat in Shuiyuan Zhe's room, which was unexpected.

At the end, Zhou Zuo said to Xiao Ling:

"I first met you on this bridge. I can't go back to that time. Both the city and we are changing, but I can recognize you at any time."

If it's just a love themed cartoon, I like this story very much.

But the setting of the film is World War II, which affects more people's feelings.

Although the film expresses the idea of anti war, it only shows the domestic turmoil, but still treats itself as a victim, does not reveal the original sin of the war, and lacks deeper reflection.
