Zheng Rencai, now 51 years old, is a doctor in the health station of Dajing Village, Dongba Town, Yunan County, Yunfu City. In junior high school, he had his right leg amputated due to an accident and could only walk on crutches. In December 1994, at the age of 23, he became the "one legged village doctor" in the remote mountain village on the side of Dajing Village. In the past 30 years, he has been facing setbacks, constantly striving for self-improvement, and treating countless patients with the kindness of doctors. He was widely praised by the local people and was rated as "Guangdong Good Man" in the third quarter of 2022.

Zheng Rencai is the only doctor in the Dajing Village Health Station. After the old village doctor retired, Zheng Rencai took over the responsibility, which lasted nearly 30 years. Dajing Village is a village with more than 2500 people, but there are only about 1000 permanent residents, most of whom are old people and children, and young people go out to work. Remote villages and long mountain roads are not easy for the elderly and children to get in and out. The health station has become a "health guard station" for the villagers.

After learning the situation, Zheng Rencai quickly measured Ye Bo's blood pressure, felt his pulse, listened to his heart rate, wrote a prescription, and carefully gave instructions. "Dr. Zheng's medical skills are very good and he is conscientious. I and the villagers always find him at the first time when they have any physical problems. Many people come from far away because of his medical skills," Ye Bo told reporters.

For the one legged Zheng Rencai, every visit is not easy. Especially in remote places where cars can't get in, he always walks in step by step with crutches and medicine boxes on his back. He never evaded the villagers' needs, whether in cold or hot weather or in wind or rain. One day at two o'clock in the morning, a sudden ringing of the telephone woke him from his sleep. Hearing the cry for help from the other end of the phone, he hurried to the patient's grandmother Xie's house with a crutch. After examination, he diagnosed Grandma Xie's pain caused by kidney stones, immediately gave her an injection to relieve the pain, and then sent her to the hospital for further treatment.

In the past 30 years, Zheng Rencai has walked more than 270000 kilometers of mountain roads, worn out 3 tricycles and replaced 10 crutches; About 10 patients are treated every day, and the number of diagnosis and treatment is about 100000 person times. Zheng Rencai never changed his mobile phone number because he was worried that villagers could not remember his mobile phone number and delayed his illness. After seeing the patient, Zheng Ren will record and sort out the situation of each patient in detail, report to the town in time, and enter it into the relevant medical system, so that when the patient goes to other hospitals, the doctor can understand the patient's past medical history, and better diagnose and treat the patient

Zheng Rencai's career in medicine has been rather tortuous. He was born in 1971 in Zhiluping Village, the village committee of Dajing. When he was young, he never thought of becoming a doctor. Until an accident in junior high school, his right leg was injured and infected, and he had to amputate his leg, which became a turning point in his life.

"After the amputation, the leg still suffered from repeated pain. At that time, there was no condition to see a doctor often, so I went to see a medical book myself. If I read too much, I could also treat myself." Several years later, Zheng Rencai's medical skills had made great progress, and villagers often asked him to see some minor diseases. After his reputation and medical skills gradually improved, he got the idea of becoming a doctor and began to learn medical skills systematically.

In the 1990s, many roads in rural areas were not hard bottomed. In addition, medical resources were relatively scarce. It was very difficult for Zheng Rencai to walk with crutches. He had the idea of giving up medicine. "But on second thought, I have learned medical skills, and the villagers need me again. They dare to entrust their lives to me. I can't live up to their trust, and it's worth using their ability to heal and save people!" Zheng Rencai said.

In 1994, at the age of 23, Zheng Rencai took over the baton of the old village doctor and became the only village doctor in the village. Up to now, he still actively participates in training courses held by health systems at all levels, seizes every opportunity to learn, constantly improves his professional level, and gradually becomes a "general practitioner".
