In February, the sun was blazing in Laos. On the bank of the Mekong River, in the office building of the Central Organ of the Lao Youth League in Vientiane City, the twelfth batch of Chinese (Shanghai) young volunteers from the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League are going to Laos to celebrate the Dragon Year and the Spring Festival. Yao Shun, the leader of the team, said happily, "This Spring Festival, we and the Laotian youth will write the word" Fu ", cut window decorations, play rubbing, throw pots, carry out Chinese medicine consultation, rehabilitation physiotherapy, and share the joy of the Chinese New Year with the local youth."

It has been 43 days since they arrived in Vientiane. These young volunteers have overcome their acclimatization and are used to driving electric vehicles to work. They are used to working in mosquito bites. They are dark and thin, and their hearts are closer to Laos.

In the eyes of young volunteers, the imprints of Laos and China are "within reach". Between China and Laos, there are the natural dragon of the Lancang Mekong River, the modern steel dragon of the China Laos Railway, and the Nanleke Hydropower Station contracted by the Sinohydro Bureau 10, which are printed on the notes of Laos, making the volunteers feel cordial and inspired. Yao Shun said that he would lead the volunteers to take the responsibility of youth in the coming year, so that Lao youth can have a deep understanding of Chinese culture and human history, and promote China Laos friendship with practical actions.

Let Lao youth experience the Year of China

"Birds chirp and flowers blossom to welcome envoys, and the miasma on the Langcang River disappears." This is the scene that Zhu Yingdeng, a famous writer in the Ming Dynasty, described hundreds of years ago when the people of China and Laos had friendly communication and exchanges. Today, China Laos exchanges are more convenient and closer.

"We have been carrying out volunteer service for nearly a month and a half. We have carried out some research and visits in the early stage, and the government and people here are very enthusiastic about us." Yao Shun, the leader of the service team, is from the Shanghai Hope Project and Youth Volunteer Guidance Center, and currently serves the Central Vocational Skills Development Office of the Lao Youth League. This organization is similar to the domestic after-school interest classes, mainly providing skills training in language, computer, labor skills and other aspects for local party and government officials and school-age youth.

Yao Shun and volunteer Wang Chun are mainly responsible for Chinese teaching volunteer services. "We divide the teaching courseware into two categories: zero basis and simple listening and speaking, and use multimedia means to help students master Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing as soon as possible." In order to have a good Chinese class, Yao Shun began to seek experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language several months ago, fully communicated with volunteers Wang Chun and Lao Fang, and carefully arranged teaching plans and courses. As the team leader, he also took good care of the volunteer team, organized everyone to learn the daily language of Laos, and understood the local customs, laws and regulations.

As the New Year of the Dragon is coming, Yao Shun and his volunteer partners prepared a "2024 'Year of China' activity and Chinese teaching opening ceremony" with the theme of "Long Teng New Year Building China Laos Friendship Together". "Before the New Year's Eve, we and the Laotian youth wrote the word" Fu ", cut window decorations, played rubbing, cast pots, carried out Chinese medicine consultation, rehabilitation physiotherapy, and carried out cultural exchanges and civilization mutual learning between China and Laos in this silent way to promote the understanding and love of Chinese traditional culture among the Laotian youth."

Volunteer words: build China Laos friendship and show volunteer style.

  Inherit traditional Chinese culture
Use the truth to "plant" more hope

State to state relations lie in people to people relations. Wang Chun, who is also a volunteer Chinese teacher, has recently started formal classes. He looks forward to practicing the mission of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries with wonderful Chinese lessons on the platform in foreign countries, and opening up wonderful encounters with young people in Laos.

In addition to doing a good job in teaching, Wang Chun also gave advice to the farms belonging to the Central Committee of the Lao Youth League. He studied abroad for eight years, focusing on agricultural economic management, and returned to work with the desire of rural revitalization and brand agriculture. According to Wang Chun's visit and observation, agriculture is one of the important directions of Laos' future development, but at present, there is still a big gap between Laos' agricultural development and the world's modern agriculture.

"Previously, volunteers brought 8424 watermelon seeds to Laos and planted high-quality watermelon in Vientiane, bringing economic benefits and great incentives to me." Wang Chun also hopes to contribute to Laos' agricultural and rural development, agricultural production and agricultural product sales.

Shanghai's suburban agriculture has a strong agricultural research force and a mature supply chain system. He hopes to bring the advanced agricultural technology and business philosophy to the Lao people, and also hopes that the Lao people can study agriculture in Shanghai, get a close feel of the dual drive of agricultural science and technology and agricultural brands, and the scene of modern agriculture taking off, so as to help Laos accelerate its dream of agricultural modernization.

In the Acupuncture Department of 109 Hospital (Fourth Fifth Hospital) in Laos, a white figure has been seen shuttling between the consulting table and the hospital bed recently. With the help of the translator, he sometimes looked at the patients, sometimes held a three inch silver needle, twirling, lifting and inserting, skillfully, in one go... This doctor is Shen Ruishi, a 26 year old young volunteer from Shuguang Hospital affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who has rich experience in volunteer services such as free diagnosis and teaching support. In this hospital, Shen Ruishi is mainly responsible for acupuncture treatment and rehabilitation physiotherapy of patients.

"We have good security in all aspects of Vientiane and almost no worries in life. However, we also face many difficulties in our work." Shen Ruishi told reporters that many conditions in Laos are relatively difficult, the climate is hot, tropical diseases are rampant, and people's medical conditions are relatively poor. Laos 109 Hospital (Fourth Fifth Hospital) is a public hospital, but the overall facilities and treatment environment of the hospital are relatively poor, and the basic auxiliary medical equipment is very scarce. The hospital only has simple X-ray and basic B-ultrasound examination equipment, and the professional ability and treatment level of medical personnel are relatively weak.

"When patients come for treatment, they often simply introduce their neck pain and low back pain. Because of language problems, it is difficult to obtain a complete medical history in a short time, just like in China. At this time, it shows the advantages of our traditional Chinese medicine. First, we can roughly judge the nature of the disease according to the tongue and pulse, and then, in combination with the patient's chief complaint, we can determine which meridians and viscera the disease belongs to, and identify which type of the disease belongs to yin and yang, exterior and interior, cold and heat, deficiency and excess. Then we can make a diagnosis, and then apply acupuncture, so that we can know exactly what the disease belongs to without bias. " Shen Ruishi said.

Therefore, Dr. Shen will focus on Chinese medicine rehabilitation treatment and acupuncture physiotherapy to tailor the treatment plan for each patient in combination with the local treatment process and his own expertise in Chinese medicine. At the same time, in view of the serious shortage of needle consumables, he actively integrated the medical resources of the dispatched units, brought acupuncture needles to the service hospital, made up for the gap in needles, and effectively helped the hospital solve the problem of "making bricks without straw". His benevolence was also welcomed by the local people. In just over a month, the return visit rate reached more than 70%.

In view of the weak professional level of medical staff, Dr. Shen actively communicated with his tutor to discuss the ability improvement plan for local TCM practitioners. "In the next stage, I plan to regularly hold 'TCM treatment' lectures, share acupuncture treatment techniques and treatment ideas for related diseases, and share experience in the treatment of common diseases in the acupuncture department."

Volunteer message: build a bridge of friendship and culture between China and Laos with TCM acupuncture.
