From today, a new round of heavy rainfall will appear in the south of China. It is currently the May Day holiday, which has a great impact on transportation.

Ma Xueqian, chief forecaster of the Central Meteorological Observatory: From May 3 to 5, a new round of heavy rainfall will occur in southern China from west to east, and heavy rain will successively occur in central and eastern Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangxi and Guangdong. Among them, heavy rain will also occur in southeast Hunan, central and southern Jiangxi, northern Guangxi and parts of central and northern Guangdong.

Seen from the cumulative precipitation, 40~80mm of cumulative precipitation is generally seen in most parts of southern China, including 100~180mm of precipitation in southeast Hunan, central and southern Jiangxi and central and northern Guangdong and Guangxi, and 200~250mm in local areas. In terms of short-term heavy precipitation, the maximum hourly precipitation is generally 30~50mm, and may exceed 70mm locally. In addition to short-term heavy rainfall, some areas in the south may also be accompanied by some severe convective weather such as thunderstorms, gales or hail.

In addition to the heavy precipitation in the southern region, the Yangtze Huaihe cyclone, which affects the southern region, has significantly strengthened after entering the sea and moved to the northeast, bringing a relatively obvious precipitation process to the northeast of China from May 5 to 6. Moderate to heavy rain and local rainstorm will occur successively in the southeast of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang.

Because this round of heavy rainfall in southern China overlaps with the previous heavy rainfall, the risk level of rainstorm disasters and severe convection disasters in Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangdong and Guangxi is relatively high. The public should pay attention to safety when traveling. In addition, they should also pay attention to the risk of secondary disasters.

Multi department linkage to ensure travel safety

In order to cope with the impact of a new round of rainfall in the south, multiple departments jointly study and judge in advance to take various measures to ensure traffic safety.

The Ministry of Transport said that in view of the new round of severe convective weather in some southern regions, the Road Network Center strengthened communication and consultation with meteorological, public security and other departments, studied and judged the road weather, flow and other conditions in advance, and took targeted measures.

Wen Jing, head of the Travel Service Department of the Road Network Center of the Ministry of Transport, conducted a comprehensive investigation on the pavement, bridges, tunnels and high slopes within the scope of road management and maintenance, focusing on strengthening the patrol and prevention and control of high slope sections near water and cliff; At the same time, travel information was timely released through multi-channel channels such as traffic broadcast and variable information board, and the information was synchronized to the map navigation enterprise, reminding drivers and passengers to pay attention to the road information in advance and reasonably plan the travel route.

According to the prediction of the Road Network Center of the Ministry of Transport, from today to the 5th, there will be intensive suburban tours and family visits, and the surrounding areas of the scenic spot and the sections of key expressways in and out of the city will face greater traffic pressure. In addition to timely understanding the local weather and road conditions and checking the good car conditions before traveling, fog lights and double flashing lights should be turned on in time in rainy and foggy weather.

Wen Jing, Director of the Travel Service Department of the Road Network Center of the Ministry of Transport, said: We suggest that we should go to the mountain areas as little as possible in heavy rainfall days. In case of heavy rainfall and severe convection weather, we must drive carefully, reduce speed and control distance, pay attention to the surrounding environment, and prevent accidents such as rear end rollover, landslide and rockfall. In case of traffic accident or vehicle failure when driving on the expressway, "pull over, evacuate people and call the police immediately" shall be adopted to prevent secondary accidents.
